NEC charges all customers for line charges butI used to have Elec from them but I switched to a cheaper elec providedWhen I did that they raised the line charges to more than the electricity costsI bepeive they at are charging more for line charges for non NEC residents who have no choice but to use their lines for distribution
I pay cents for elec from another providerOnce the service charges, line use etc from NEC are determined, I pay about cents per KW just for delivery
I believe they punish those who do not get elec from them by jacking up the or line charges

Friday March 18, we experienced a power outage due to a stormAlthough I understand that it takes time to restore power, Nueces Electric continues to time & time again take several hours to restore power in my area, Agua D***All surrounding areas were out, but one by one were restoredI called several times to check the status of the time waitOne time, I was told politely that they were trying their bestThe rest were rude responses & at one point a customer representative suggested that the problem was probably meThat I just needed to turn the breaker box back on, that was not the case one bitHowever, I did check the breaker box in case it on my end, it wasn'tI went to Corpus Saturday evening to wait it out instead of sitting at home in the darkWhile in Corpus, I noticed about Nueces Electric working on different businessesI understand it is important that businesses power are restored, but I believe residential areas are more importantFamilies were without powerI'm sure Burger King, Lowe's & Rudys Bbq could have sufficed without electricity for a couple of more hoursWhen I got back to Agua D*** Saturday night around 12:30AM, I noticed our power was still outSo I decided to drive down to & check on the statusWhile driving up I noticed Txdot guarding the road since power lines were down on highway However, Nueces Electric had sent that crew homeI was also informed that there was a second crew that had been sent to work on the lines, that never showed up! Initially all surrounding areas were being restored little by little, except for Agua D***This has been going on for yearsThey charge so much for electricity & when it comes to power outages, we spend hours waiting without electricityNow I had no choice, but to rent a hotel room since my house still had no power & my water to shower was too cold to bathe inThis is just unacceptableThey're families with children who are still without powerIt's not just this storm that has left many families in Agua D*** without powerThis is an ongoing occurrenceIf one pays so much for electricity, then why isn't power restored in a much more timely mannerIt's just too much nowI cannot even describe the amount I pay in the summerThis company has just been taking advantage of customers for far too long & when customers call for answers, we are either spoken to rudely or hung up onThis must stopI would gladly switch to another light company like Relient or CPL., (which I've had in the past & have paid very reasonable prices & have never had problems with), but the area I live in has not been deregulated so that other companies can provide service inNueces Electric should either provide reasonable prices & better customers or hopefully the area I live in is soon deregulated so that better services are provided by other companiesThank you for your time
