Richard's Carpet Cleaning

I had a reoccurring wicking stain at a rental property that Richard "guaranteed" would go away with special chemicals. I told him that with just normal, non-special cleaning products the stain reappears after several weeks. Indeed, it reappeared after he first cleaned the carpet! So, I gave him a second chance at an additional charge. (Why he didn't use his "special" chemicals the first time is a bit curious. Or, maybe he did?)

Well, even after applying his magic potion the stains came back as usual. Naturally, I called Richard for my refund given that he "guaranteed" the stain removal. His wife pulled the invoice and saw that he did the work about ten weeks ago. His wife then explained that we exceeded the "eight week warranty." The only problem is, at no time did he communicate an eight week guarantee! In fact, he communicated the very opposite. Richard said the stain would *never* resurface given his "special chemicals." The stains reappeared, of course, prior to my calling him ten weeks after. I suspect that had I phoned him in six weeks I would have been told that the "5 week" warranty had expired. Again, there was no warranty other than an unequivocal promise that the wicking would never result in resurfaced stains.

To add insult to injury, Richard's wife made promises both to my wife and me that Richard would call me. He never did. Lastly, I told her that I was going to file a complaint with the Revdex.com because of the "lie" and she exclaimed, "shut up!"

As I told Richard's wife, the fifty dollar refund they wanted to avoid will certainly cost them more than that due to this review of Richard's Carpet Cleaning. At the very least, he lost my business and I have three houses in less than a two mile radius.
