Richard Eric Renteria ripped off one of my clients, [redacted], for $450. Renteria has stolen from others as well. Renteria has operated under various business names, including Etiquette Vintage Design, Etiquette Design, Boy Meets Girl, and most recently Beaus + Ribbons, although he has not registered any business with the State of Texas or paid business taxes, as required by law. In August 2013, my client paid Renteria $450 to make two blazers by November 2, 2013. Renteria had measurements taken to make the blazers. When the deadline passed without Renteria making the blazers, Renteria promised my client that by December 1, 2013 he would issue a $500 refund and give my client the blazers at no charge. The second deadline passed without Renteria producing either the refund or the blazers. After weeks of attempting to contact Renteria without success, my client asked me to help him. I tried calling both of Renterias listed phone numbers but both were out of service. I sent emails to both his email addresses but he didnt respond. I wrote him on Facebook but he ignored me. Finally, I sent Renteria a letter by certified mail, which he received on December 11, 2013. However, despite my persistent follow-up, Renteria has refused all requests to refund my client the $450 he stole. My investigation of Renteria revealed he has consistently engaged in unethical and deceptive business practices. He takes clients money then fails to deliver the goods he agreed to make. He makes elaborate promises to models that fail to occur. He stalks, harasses, and frightens models and conditions photography of them on sexual favors. In the past few months, he has put up and then taken down at least three Facebook pages and four websites. He constantly changes his business name and address. Unsurprisingly, the Revdex.com gave Renteria an F. Obviously, these should be red flags for anyone pondering doing business with Renteria.
