Rhythm Dance and Fitness Studio

Review: I purchased two gift certificates (valued at a total of $150) from the studio in December 2012 during their holiday sale, but I was not informed of an expiration date. When I attempted to redeem the gift certificates on March 12th, just 3 months after purchasing them, I opened the PDF gift certificate attachment [this business uses email/internet primarily for sales & scheduling] and realized the gift certificates had expired days earlier. The PDF stated in small print that if one gift certificate was purchased, it would expire 2/1; if two were purchased, they would expire 3/1. I contacted the studio - first by phone (my call wasn't answered), then by email, to see if the gift certificates were still redeemable since they had expired merely days earlier. Besides, isn't there a law in California that states gift certificates cannot have an expiration date? I was hoping the owner would realize my honest mistake in not opening & inspecting the PDF attachment sooner. Instead, the response I received from the studio owner was (and I quote): "Sorry, gifts end along time ago... Sent from my iPhone." To me, this represents terrible customer service. The consumer should be informed of expiration dates prior to the purchase of a gift certificate, and a good business owner would have allowed the classes to have been redeemed a few days late. Now, I will be sure to tell all of my friends & family about this awful experience, and I will never purchase any additional classes at this studio EVER.Desired Settlement: I do not want to attend ANY classes with this rude studio owner at this point & demand a full refund for the price of my gift certificates. Each certificate was valued at $75 (total $150) and I still have the email receipt from my purchase.
