controlled the success and failures of the farm. Our decision to cancel the CSA program this year was not to take money from our CSA members (all CSA money is invested directly into the farm). The decision to cancel was because the weather had created a set of circumstances on our property that did not allow for production of the season. This is a commonly known risk of participating in a CSA program. We were very transparent with our members about what was happening on the farm prior to the cancellation. We encouraged questions and concerns. We did not hear from this member during this timeframe. We clearly explained what was happening on the farm and the actions that we were taking to correct the issues at hand. We can confidently say we did everything in our power to move the season along in a positive manner. Unfortunately, the spring rains we had did too much damage to the soil to get any return on the season. We have had additional distributions since canceling the CSA, which we can or can not say if she has participated in. We can confirm that she did fail to show up for one of her early season pickups. We had a total of 5 distributions before canceling the CSA. We can not take responsibility for the pick ups that she has willingly chose not to participate in. No other member has voiced complaint or requested a refund. We have received only support and understanding from our other members regarding the risk that they willingly participated in and understood upon signing the contract for their CSA.
