Review: DOT issued a sidewalk violation. Sought a home improvement contractor to deal with it. Spoke with several, hired Reunited, signed contract, gave deposit -- Dec 2014. Little contact with the business, would not return phone calls. Months went by. Contacted the web site that had recommended the business (Home Advisor) which managed to get the business to finally contact me. Promised they'd stay better in touch. Bad weather, couldn't work, wait for spring, then summer. Fall? Tried contacting them again several times. They finally called me Sep ** 2015. Said they'd come the following week. Said permit had been filed. Said they'd email me a copy of it. Never called. Never came. Never sent the email. Left more messages. Found out their landline had been disconnected. All calls to their cell # went straight to voice mail. Finally got them by calling at 7am. Promised he'd be out that same day to assess what's needed for the job. Never called, never came. That was Sep **. I'm done. Filed a complaint with Department of Consumer Affairs. I'd like to get my money back since the city will most likely do the repair now and it'll cost me double the contracted price with Reunited.Desired Settlement: They gave me a Notice of Right to Cancel when I signed the contract but it stated that it had to be done within 3 business days. They said to call their landline (now disconnected) and mail a copy to their address in Bayside. Well I'd send the paper to Bayside if I truly believed they were even there at this point, given their phone has been disconnected and their cell goes straight to voice mail so they can screen their calls. I want my money back. Contract was for $6,350. I gave a deposit of $2,300. The city will most likely charge me over $12,000 for the job. I sure as hell could use that $2,300 back.
