I signed up for a yr contract on 5/30/and I did not select the automatic renewal option I stopped going to the gym for various reasons but was locked in to the yr contract and I honored that commitment regularly making my payments with my [redacted] through an installment plan I couldn't wait for the year to be up so I can be released from that contract, however 5/30/came and went and they continue to bill me monthly for the gym membership (changing my agreement type to open) when I did not select automatic renewal I stopped by the gym today 7/31/two months after my contract expired (but I'm still paying) to tell them that my contract is up and I don't want to continue the membership The gym managers tells me that I had to give them day notice to cancel the contract but I tell her I'm not cancelling a contract, the term of the contract is up She then insists that I sign a paper saying that I'm willing to pay two more months of dues, when I tell he

Cancellation policy is to turn off your auto-renew and continue paying till January of I told them I'm not even sure I have been here this year Employee claimed to be a lawyer saying that I should have read the contract that you can't cancel a membership without paying the full year Told him that nobody has the time to read all of the contracts and would ever imagine that you can't cancel a gym membershipThey told me I should have signed up for month to month and told them I had no idea that was even an optionThey told me that as of January (I guess of this year) that their policy has changed to allow cancellations I told them I wish they hadn't told me that because for some reason they didn't make it retroactive for their current members which doesn't help me whatsoever
