Review: I paid the Rescue Law Center $4461.79 initially to help me negotiate my debt with several creditors (student loans, credit cards) so that I could pay it off. That was in June 2010. Every time I called to check on the status of my account, I was told it was "in progress" and I had to "be patient." In the meantime, I was unable to make the debt payments because they were too big, so everything went into collections. Every time I called Rescue Law Center about needing their assistance, they would put me with a different "account manager." I can trace emails with at least 6 people and I know there were more that I spoke with on the phone. Finally, when I was able to secure a job that paid enough to make debt payments, I initiated repayment plans on my own with my creditors and have managed to pull myself out of collections, with absolutely NO HELP from Rescue Law Center.Desired Settlement: The contract I had with them indicated that if they were unsuccessful in assisting me, I would get all of my money back. I am looking for a return of my initial payment of $4461.79 and I ended up accruing a lot of extra debt in the form of collections fees and a major hit to my credit rating as a result of trusting them, so I would want to recoup those expenses as well if possible. Most importantly, I don't want others to be taken advantage of, as I was treated extremely poorly.
