Saw adds on craigslist that were too good to be true. I decided to contact them. Asked for very inappropriate information for an inquiry. Found several adds that all fell into the same criteria-beware craigslist is LOADED with them. The emails between us changed in grammar and they kept sweetening the pot (such as including all utilities including wifi, and reducing pet fees to $10 a month. Both these apartments were less than $700 ($691 & $697 who lists with these odd numbers) in the area north of Boston. All send you to this site. Never gonna happen. The whole thing is an intricate scam to get your info and money.

I think this is part of a craigslist scam. People searching for apartments will email an alleged property manager through the ad. The person will respond back with instructions to fill out an application. They provide the following link:***

The link looks legitimate and asks you to fill out your contact information as well as the last four digits of your social security number and birthday so that it can pull your credit score. At the last step it asks for your credit card information so that you can purchase your credit report.

I've been apartment hunting for 3 days now, and I've been requested by three different ads (three unrelated property managers) to input my information on the same site (***). All three times I will get the same request: That I need to fill out the form on the website before they can tell me anything else about the property. When I respond that something quirky is going on with the website (I put in my contact information but never gave my credit card number), I won't hear anything back from the email address listed on the craigslist ad.

*** is the site that you are taken to when you're asked to buy your credit report. But the original website (***) has done absolutely nothing in terms of facilitating my apartment application.
