Rent-A-Husband of Maine

July 2013 we hired [redacted] (Rent a Husband), the signed contract was for an addition, 2 car garage with living space above, including dormer and ground work, projected time frame was 45 days. The contract price was $53,000. As of right now, [redacted] walked off the job on the 20th of November. He has cashed a total of $60,000 as an additional dormer was added to the project for another 15k. The code enforcer has been over to inspect [redacted]'s work and has discovered many issue and code infractions. We also discovered that the inspection process was not properly followed as well as many permit issues such as telling the electrician that he did not need to pull a permit for the electrical work. We also discovered many issues with the insulation, plumbing as he did not pull the correct permits nor did he have his work inspected before he closed up the walls. One of the major issues we found is the 35ft steel beam that was installed is a used beam and does not have the proper load bearing specs to support the living space above as it is already bowing, the many other problems is the insulation in the walls are not to code, attic has insulation not to code, roof is not vented, main floor is not attached to the steel beam and has improper flooring section of floor, picture window is a single pain 1/4in thick, exterior wall on side of house Tyvex and it was not properly installed. His plumber hung our heating pipe with sauder and not a proper bracket. There are many more issues as well.
