I went to Red Wing shoe store in Temecula, CA, to purchase boots for work. I had my feet sized by one of their employees and he sized me differently than I was previously sized. I tried on the boots and they felt a little tight. The employee assured me the leather would stretch. I purchased the boots and upon wearing them for 1 week at work found that my feet began to blister from them being too small and my back began to hurt. I brought them back to the store September 21, 2019 and asked for an exchange for a larger size. They told me they could not take them back and offered to stretch the leather for me. I asked them why they could not exchange them and they would not give me a good reason, instead they kept pushing for me to let them stretch the leather. I let the stretch the leather for 4 hours and picked them up. I wore them one more day and had even more pain than before on my feet, toes, and back. I brought them back again on September 29, 2019 and they told me there was nothing they could do.

As we spoke about on the phone yesterday, the Red Wing Heritage boot that Derek purchased is not able to be returned after being worn/damaged. He wore the lifestyle/dress boot for construction against our recommendation, and didn’t give them the proper care or time to break in the leather as was suggested as well. We offered to stretch the boot as he claimed it felt a little tight. A new boot can feel a bit tight until the thick high quality leather is broken in. He declined any assistance.
Besides being unwilling to have us help with his boot, he asked us to break our corporate policy which is what this complaint is about. The policy is clearly written at the register where the boots were purchased and on our website.
I also had my staff send a photo of the exact mat that he signed his receipt for the boots on.

I am rejecting this response because:Their employee who sized my boot sized me incorrectly. They did not indicate that the boots can not be returned or exchanged when I asked. The Person who wrote that response is fabricating a different Story then what happened the boots are in mint condition worn only twice. The part about treating the leather was incorrect. They told me if I treat the leather the boots cannot be returned or exchanged. All I am asking is for Red wing to honor proper business practice and exchange these boots for 1 size larger.
