Review: RE: [redacted].We settled on this home on April 2nd 2014 and it was a rainy day. The very next day the basement was flooded. That said, the basement floods when there is rain because the Drain around the interior perimeter of the basement does not work.Architect [redacted], who we hired to design the addition for this property witnessed the presence of the water in the basement and told us the source and how to correct the problem. We have a report from Pro-spect, the home inspection company explaining the problem with the water in the basement. They clearly point out that part of the drain is blocked with concrete.I have spoken to relatives of the people who previously owned this home and they told me the basement drains have not worked for quite some time.I think the people who rehabbed this property knew the basement would flood with rain. That is the reason they painted the basement walls with waterproofing paint.We had plans of relisting and /or building an addition on this home. I made this decision during the intimidating meeting we had with [redacted]. I still have the letter he gave me indicating we did not have sufficient reason not to go thru with the purchase of this home and he intended to go to court.That said, we did not buy this home in asis condition. The basement flooding problem was not listed in the disclosure we were given.Had we seen or known of water in the basement, we would not have settled. At the very least, it was a very good reason for us not to purchase this home.There is no heat in the basement. We knew this when we bought this home and we planned to install a heating unit down there.Now, we cannot heat the basement, we cannot re-list for sale, we cannot build an addition or even use the basement. In fact, we cannot do laundry because the basement floods. We have to use a Laundromat.In addition, they never corrected the sloping floors either.Desired Settlement: Replace the drain and crock around the perimeter of the basement so it does not flood.
