honest company, accurate quote, and a timely repair. I needed my chimney re flashed and the shingles around it replaced, beautiful job, no more leaks.

Lowest of three quotes I received and they seemed to be the most knowledgeable also. Would have completed my roof including tear-off in one day except shingle supplier mixed-in 2 bundles of the wrong color. Installers recognized this and had correct shingles at the job site early the next day to complete the project. Rasmussen followed up with me after the install to make sure I was satisfied. I've recommended them to friends who are looking for a roofing company.

The company will not resolve workmanship issues with exterior door installation.
Rasmussen LLC installed a new exterior double door at my property on June 5, 2018. Issues with the installation were noted after it was completed. These were communicated via email to Henry P, the owner of Rasmussen Exteriors, the day of the installation. The issues were:

1. The door unit had a dented metal sill.
2. The door did not shut or lock properly.
3. Daylight was visible at the top of the doors.

Mr. P did not respond to the June 5 email. I left a voice mail for him on at his office June 13. He did not return my call. I sent another email on June 20. He did not respond to this either.

On July 23 I received a bill from Rasmussen LLC for the balance due on the installation. I emailed Mr. P asking why I was being billed when there were outstanding issues with the installation. He responded the next day. He stated he had delegated responsibility for resolving the installation issues to the door distributor and thought everything was resolved.

I informed him the sill was still dented and daylight was still showing at the top of the door. I informed him I fixed the problem with the door shutting and locking by tightening the strike plates which had not been tightened properly by the installation crew.

After an exchange of emails, Mr. P agreed to give me a credit on my bill for the dented door sill. Mr. P was also advised I would make the final payment when the door daylight issue was resolved. He still insisted I deal with the door distributor to correct the daylight issue with the door. I worked with the door distributor to try to resolve this issue. It could not be fixed with replacement parts. During this process we also discovered there was water leakage under the door.

I contacted the door manufacturer. The manufacturer sent a third party contractor to inspect the door unit. The inspection found workmanship issues with the installation.

Rasmussen LLC contacted me in December asking when I was planning on paying the balance. This was the first contact from them in four months. They initially stated I owed the full amount of the total contract price, even though I had given a 50% deposit and was to receive a credit for the dented door sill. I sent a copy of the July invoice and information on the third party inspection to Mr. P.

Mr. P responded the door fits and works fine. He stated he was turning my bill over to a collection agency.

I emailed Mr. P and asked how he could state the door fits and works fine as he did not inspect the door installation during the 7 month span since the June 5 installation. As Rasmussen LLC is a member of the Revdex.com (Revdex.com), I also asked Mr. P to consider using the dispute resolution services offered by the Revdex.com prior to turning over the bill to a collection agency.

Mr. P did not respond to this communication.

After being told the bill was being turned over to a collection agency and not receiving a response to my request to use Revdex.com dispute resolution services, I decided to pay the bill to protect my credit rating and avoid having to deal with bill collectors contacting me.

Making this final payment without the door being repaired was a difficult decision as I strongly believe Mr. P should have made a good faith effort to resolve this dispute in accordance with Revdex.com accreditation standards. Instead I was threatened with a collection agency.

I am seeking resolution to this dispute through the Revdex.com complaint process.

Desired Outcome

I want Rasmussen LLC to reimburse me for the costs to have another contractor make the repairs to the door installation.

homeowner door install
On June 5,20018 we went out to the homeowner to install a double door in the back lower level of the 1 story house with a walk out basement. After the old door was removed and the new door was being installed it was discovered that the door that was swinging was on the wrong side. We took out the door and filled the opening in with plywood and brought the door back to the supplier to return to the manufacture for repair. The door was ordered correctly but was manufactured wrong.
The manufacture repaired the door and sent it back to us. We installed it but had trouble getting it to open and close properly. The rep from the manufacture came out and looked it but could not find anything wrong with it. I told him that we wanted a new door that functioned properly. The manufacture rep agreed to order us a new door which we then installed. When the installer completed the install of the new door he asked the home owner to approve the work and the homeowner agreed everything was working properly. Asking the homeowner to inspect the work after job is completed is protocol on all our jobs. After some time the homeowner called and said he had problems with the door. Some light was coming in at the top and the sill at the bottom of the door had a dent in it.I contacted the supplier and had him go out and look at it. He told the homeowner that the Seal at L seals were missing and wondered if the painters had removed them and forgot to put them back on. The supplier ordered new seals and put them on. The manufacture would not do anything about the dent in the door so I asked the homeowner what he thought would be fair compensation for the defective sill. He told me $150.00 off would be a fair amount and I agreed to deduct that amount off his bill. The door works properly with no defects except the dent in the sill which the homeowner was compensated for. The report that was done by the manufacture was done without our knowledge. No where in that report does it state that the door does not open or close properly or that there is a gap that allows air to come in. It only states that the door is slightly out of square and not plumb. We put the door in to fit the opening which is the proper way to do it. We have no control over how the house was built. At this point I feel as though we have done as much as we can do to resolve any concerns the home owner might have. The sales reps from both the manufacture, distributer and myself have been out numerous times to resolve concerns. The homeowner and our company never seem to be able to satisfy those concerns whatever they may be.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I am very disappointed in the response from Rasmussen LLC. It appears Mr. P did not thoroughly read the complaint. There are also factual errors. I feel obligated to provide some basic corrections and clarifications to the content of Mr. P' response. These are not all inclusive.

The history provided in the response is completely inaccurate. The first attempt at replacing the door (the one where the door delivered was not manufactured properly) occurred February 28, 2018, not June 5, 2018 as stated in the response. For the record my house is a two story walk out (three stories at the rear), not a one story as described by Mr. P.

The second door referenced in the response was installed on March 20, 2018. There were problems with the fit and the door would not shut or open properly. It was my understanding the door may not have been sized properly. The numerous visits by the manufacturer representatives referenced in the response all occurred as a result of this installation.

I did not reference these two events in my complaint as I did not think they were relevant to the June 5, 2018 installation. However the inaccurate information provided by Mr. P needs to be corrected.

For the record, my complaint is on the door installation that occurred June 5, 2018. I did not approve the work as stated in the response. I was not asked by the installation crew to do so. I did try to shut the door while the crew was loading up to leave. It would not shut properly. I pointed that out to the crew. One of the installation crew grabbed the doorknob, slammed the door hard and told me this is how this door will need to be shut.

In his response Mr. P states "After some time the homeowner called and said he had problems with the door. Some light was coming in at the top and the sill at the bottom of the door had a dent in it." This is not accurate. As stated in my complaint, Mr. P was notified of the three problems with the installation via email the day of the installation.

As stated in my complaint, I did work with the door distributor representative to correct the problems with the daylight around the doors. He was very helpful. However, the problems could not be resolved with replacement parts. The door distributor did indicate the door installation might need to be adjusted to correct the problem. This would need to be done by Rasmussen LLC. He indicated he would advise Mr. P of this.

Mr. P is correct the door manufacturer's inspection report did not state there was a problem with the door shutting or opening. This is because I fixed the problem by tightening the door hardware left loose by his crew. I had advised him of this in July and it was included in my complaint. The manufacturer's inspection report does clearly state there are uneven door reveals. This is what is causing the daylight at the top of the doors. It should be noted due to the workmanship issues I do not have a valid manufacturer's warranty on a new door unit.

Despite Mr. P stating "I feel as though we have done as much as we can do to resolve any concerns the homeowner might have", the fact remains neither Mr. P or anyone else from his company have been to my property to actually inspect the door that was installed on June 5, 2018. I do not understand how he can make a determination the door is properly installed without actually looking at it.

This response is not satisfactory. Rasmussen LLC has not acknowledged or taken responsibility for the installation issues or proposed any resolution to the matter. To me, a business that considers itself reputable would have visited the property, looked at the door with the homeowner, determined what the problems are and set a course of action to resolve them.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The response is not satisfactory.

After going through this process Rasmussen LLC has lost all credibility with me. I am very skeptical a problem will now be found by a Rasmussen LLC employee (especially a new employee)after Mr. P has consistently denied any problems with the installation for 8 months, despite written evidence to the contrary. Even if problems would be found, I do not believe Rasmussen LLC has any genuine desire to properly repair the door unit and I do not trust them to do so. I am sincerely concerned my installation could end up being in worse shape if they work on it. Given how Rasmussen LLC has handled this matter they have given me absolutely no basis to trust them to do things right. My wife and I do not want Rasmussen LLC back on our property.

As stated in the original complaint, my desired resolution is Rasmussen LLC reimburse me for the costs to have another contractor make the repairs to the door installation.

Rasmussen Response • Apr 10, 2019

Company agreed to cover the cost of repair and will send check to Revdex.com to resolve complaint.

Im extremely impressed with the work that they did for me. They gave me a competitive quote and the roof looks fantastic. I paid my down payment and they put my roof on in two weeks. Every time I had a question they were more than willing to answer no matter how "new homeowner-ish" the question was. If I ever need a roof again I know I will be contacting them.
