Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because:Once again demonstrating a characteristic lack integrity this vendor stoops to half truths to excuse their shoddy workmanship and substandard quality product While this property IS vacant, there is only one guest bedroom that does not have window coverings, and the back half of the house is shaded during the hottest part of the day All other windows have blinds completely covering them, which have been closed the entire time the property has been vacant Furthermore, I have not denied that there could be additional factors contributing to the efficiency of the system What I declined to do was allow this contractor to bully me into replacing all of my duct work before ensuring that his equipment was functioning properly After he replaced the plenum the efficiency got worse - I went from a degree house to 79-degree one After insisting repeatedly that this was not his system's fault, I finally got the owner to come to the property with a second "lead refrigeration" specialist At this time he determined very quickly that the line set connecting the exterior unit to the interior unit was improperly sized and impeding performance It should be noted that this same technician came to the house last fall and told me the same thing then, but the owner did not replace it at that time After installing the correct size and following up on a second visit to adjust the pressures, I had requested an additional review since the house had seen literally no change in temperature performance The day the lead technician was supposed to come out I came to the house and the unit was completely shut off - it would not run I called to make sure the tech knew the situation was worse and was told at that time, after rearranging my schedule to meet him YET AGAIN (this would be the 17th visit post-installation) that he wasn't even coming At this point I demanded to talk to the owner and informed him that I wanted his product removed from my house He had the nerve to argue with me that his unit was functioning to specification when IT WASN'T EVEN RUNNING He told me he had done me a favor by replacing the plenum and line set - conveniently forgetting that modifications to the plenum and line set were itemized on his original quote to me for replacing the system, and the fact that he had to replace them later is evidence that the modifications I was billed for were either skipped or conducted improperly I informed the owner that he and his team are not to come to my property again as I do not trust them, and that I would work with another company going forward A separate contractor came out the next day - the unit had come back on in the middle of the night, so it was explained to me that it may have shut off due to some type of overload He sealed a line that was untaped and bringing attic air into the system The unit is now cooling to degrees and hasn't shut off again This means that I have officially reached the same efficiency as the unit that Rapid Air convinced me to replace last year - BECAUSE I COULDN'T COOL BELOW DEGREES Congratulations on a system "meeting spec" After months, $5400, and visits your system works as well as one that was a decade old and utilizing Rrefrigeration technology. The owner is correct that I have not followed up with him I do not owe him any further communication He has belittled me and wasted my time to an extent that is truly shocking - I have never felt so bullied and disrespected in my adult life If there are further problems with this unit or the rest of my system I will handle them via the manufacturer with a contractor that is reputable and trustworthy - not a scam artist that duped me into investing in a poor quality product and months of wasted time Regards, [redacted]
I have talked to her and we did additional work to the system The house is vacant with no shading/blinds/curtains and has a lot of heat load My lead refrigeration tech checked the system out and it was running per specifications The system is running fine She then called last week and stated that the unit was off and that she had it I told her if its off it could be a couple things, breakers etc I told her that I can have lead guy go again and check it The unit is running but during peak hours it is running continuously I told her there are other variables to the hvac system than just the unit Attic ventilation, ductwork, shading, attic insulation etc She does not think that is an issue I told her to get a second opinion and see what that company says Get me before and after pictures if they replace something and their invoice She has not done so since last week
On 7/one of our lead refrigeration technicians assessed the situation along with my assistance via telephone The equipment is working at it peak performance and the end result was an existing ductwork issue Rapid Air is replacing the plenum on monday morning per customers request
Thanks,
I have checked into this matter and have found that we have gone to this location several time for room that was not cooling We replaced it with a bigger size flex duct and the customer stated it got better We never got a call back that it was not cooling etc I myself went out
there and spoke to the husband and he said the whole house felt good but one room was a little warm As far as needing all this additional work it was not brought to my attention Thanks, *** *** Rapid Air

I am rejecting this response because:Once again demonstrating a characteristic lack integrity this vendor stoops to half truths to excuse their shoddy workmanship and substandard quality product. While this property IS vacant, there is only one guest bedroom that does not have window coverings, and the back half of the house is shaded during the hottest part of the day. All other windows have blinds completely covering them, which have been closed the entire time the property has been vacant. Furthermore, I have not denied that there could be additional factors contributing to the efficiency of the system. What I declined to do was allow this contractor to bully me into replacing all of my duct work before ensuring that his equipment was functioning properly. After he replaced the plenum the efficiency got worse - I went from a 78 degree house to 79-80 degree one. After insisting repeatedly that this was not his system's fault, I finally got the owner to come to the property with a second "lead refrigeration" specialist. At this time he determined very quickly that the line set connecting the exterior unit to the interior unit was improperly sized and impeding performance. It should be noted that this same technician came to the house last fall and told me the same thing then, but the owner did not replace it at that time. After installing the correct size and following up on a second visit to adjust the pressures, I had requested an additional review since the house had seen literally no change in temperature performance. The day the lead technician was supposed to come out I came to the house and the unit was completely shut off - it would not run. I called to make sure the tech knew the situation was worse and was told at that time, after rearranging my schedule to meet him YET AGAIN (this would be the 17th visit post-installation) that he wasn't even coming. At this point I demanded to talk to the owner and informed him that I wanted his product removed from my house. He had the nerve to argue with me that his unit was functioning to specification when IT WASN'T EVEN RUNNING. He told me he had done me a favor by replacing the plenum and line set - conveniently forgetting that modifications to the plenum and line set were itemized on his original quote to me for replacing the system, and the fact that he had to replace them later is evidence that the modifications I was billed for were either skipped or conducted improperly. I informed the owner that he and his team are not to come to my property again as I do not trust them, and that I would work with another company going forward. A separate contractor came out the next day - the unit had come back on in the middle of the night, so it was explained to me that it may have shut off due to some type of overload. He sealed a line that was untaped and bringing attic air into the system. The unit is now cooling to 77 degrees and hasn't shut off again. This means that I have officially reached the same efficiency as the unit that Rapid Air convinced me to replace last year - BECAUSE I COULDN'T COOL BELOW 77 DEGREES. Congratulations on a system "meeting spec". After 10 months, $5400, and 17 visits your system works as well as one that was a decade old and utilizing R22 refrigeration technology. The owner is correct that I have not followed up with him. I do not owe him any further communication. He has belittled me and wasted my time to an extent that is truly shocking - I have never felt so bullied and disrespected in my adult life. If there are further problems with this unit or the rest of my system I will handle them via the manufacturer with a contractor that is reputable and trustworthy - not a scam artist that duped me into investing in a poor quality product and 10 months of wasted time.

I have talked to her and we did additional work to the system. The house is vacant with no shading/blinds/curtains and has a lot of heat load. My lead refrigeration tech checked the system out and it was running per specifications. The system is running fine. She then called last week and stated that the unit was off and that she had it. I told her if its off it could be a couple things, breakers etc. I told her that I can have lead guy go again and check it . The unit is running but during peak hours it is running continuously. I told her there are other variables to the hvac system than just the unit. Attic ventilation, ductwork, shading, attic insulation etc. She does not think that is an issue. I told her to get a second opinion and see what that company says. Get me before and after pictures if they replace something and their invoice. She has not done so since last week.
