Randolph Residential Repair

I hired [redacted] to build a deck on our home in May 2015. We had a signed contract in place and he was given a significant amount of money up front. I found out months later that he never applied for a permit with our town. He then applied for permit but it took many attempts and many months for it to be approved. We had to pay to have surveys done on our property since the new deck encroached on the easement area. Because of this we also had to sign a waiver with the town. Mr. [redacted] was never able to pass inspection. After 6+ months of verbal abuse, no-show to the job site, and failed inspections, we terminated him with the written understanding that he was still responsible for the amount it took someone else to finish the project.Our deck is now built but it is very much sub-standard. It has passed inspection but the quality is poor. We just can't afford to spend any more money to get it to where it should be. We ended up paying Mr. [redacted] $6,500 then spending an additional $6,100+ to have the deck finished and repairs made for damage that Mr. [redacted] caused to our property.Product_Or_Service: DeckDesired SettlementMr. [redacted] is responsible to pay for the work we had to get done to finish the project.
