We are responding to the above referenced concern filed by [redacted]. The complaint indicates that [redacted] is upset by the billing of a $25 refraction fee as a part of his eye exam. We have had numerous conversations with our claim consultant regarding this fee and whether it must be charged....

You will find various opinions on the matter, however, the interpretation of our consultant is that this fee must be charged in order to remain in compliance with relevant medicare / medicaid billing procedures. As it appears that [redacted] will be seeking another eye care professional and has no intention of paying the $25 charge, we have written-off the balance on his account. We are frustrated to lose [redacted] as a patient over $25, but feel it is important to remain in compliance with applicable regulations.
