Review: We, me and my friend, received a gift certificate for use in this restaurant for $10 (each) by our employer. Went to eat, the food I order was under the $10 they FORCED me to spent the rest of the money as they were not willing to give me a credit back or a refund of the remainder amount. As for my friend, she couldn't figure out what else to purchase to use the remainder of the certificate and the business, just kept the remainder of the gift certificate. These certificates were paid for in cash by our employers, and their attitude, was incorrect, to me it seems to be a fraud.

The money that they FORCED me to spend I would like it as a refund, not so much as for the money, but to make a point that they are double charging for the same service, in this case for food. I only wanted to buy a burrito for $5.49, but yet I ended up spending $10.19. Additionally to being FORCED to spend the $10 gift certificate, I paid $.19 cents in cash. As for my friend she only bought 2 tacos and a drink for a total of $6.61.

On behalf of Rancho Fresco Mexican Grill I would like to sincerely apologize for the misunderstanding regarding the utilization of our restaurants gift certificates. I assure you that customer satisfaction is our top priority and we want the service at our restaurant to reflect that principle. The employer that acquired the gift certificates for [redacted] and her friend had been provided a discount rate with the agreement that certificates would be utilized for the full amount of $10.00 at the time of purchase.
We recognize the frustration this has caused Ms. [redacted] and again apologize for the misunderstanding. We will be in contact with Ms. [redacted] in the coming days to thank her for her patronage and resolving the matter by refunding her the 19 cents paid out of pocket. In addition, we will further evaluate how we can prevent this problem from occurring again in the future. It is our goal to retain satisfied customers and highly appreciate the feedback.

There should it been an statement in the certificate stating that all of the certificate amount needs to be used at one time or the remainder money would be lost. If such statement would it been printed on the certificate (example the back) then I would it plan ahead of time and only use 1 certificate to pay for 2 people, paying any difference with cash. They could keep the .19 cents as it looks like they need the money more then I do; but such statement should be printed on certificates. They surely lost 2 customers and any of my friends, co-workers and family members know of this situation and would think twice to patronage their business. Thank you.
