Review: I purchased a used vehicle (2010 Hyundai Elantra GLS) from them on 9-4-13, and I was unaware that the vehicle was rebuilt salvage until I contacted by the office of the secretary of state in springfield illinois via letter. The sale included a copy of the wisconsin buyers guide on the vehicle containing information on the vehicle's general condition and equipment requirements. The only thing marked on "repaired damage" was "replace bumper cover". Under the section "title brands" , "rebuilt salvage" was not marked.
During this same transaction, I traded in a 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis GS for $2,000 because I was told that it was salvage due to engine and transmission problems. This same vehicle is now listed on their website (www.ramseymotors.net) for $4,995. I verified the VIN to make sure this was my trade in. Vehicle notes on this car are false, I did smoke in the car, and before I acquired it from my father, it had been in two accidents to my knowledge, maybe more.
Because of their fraudulent practices, I am now required to obtain two safety inspections and incur additional fees, possibly major repairs, before the state of illinois will issue a certificate of title.Desired Settlement: Refund of my money ($8,000) and trade in, including the title of the trade in.

Response:
I forgot to state that I will return the rebuilt salvage vehicle back to them.
Business
Response:
I am responding to an ID of [redacted]
and order number 1292 and 1379, regarding [redacted]. Ms.[redacted]
came
from Rockford, IL and test drove the 2010 Hyundai Elantra GLS. We agreed
for $10,000;which includes the trade she had, a 2005 Mercury Grand
Marquis. She was aware
and was told the car had a minor accident. We replaced the bumper cover
and
there no other damage to the frame or the suspension. Also was informed
the car
has a salvage title. She had asked before over the phone, why a 2010 car
with
low mileage has a low price. When she came all the way from Rockford,
IL, I had
confirmed the title of the car with her. The car has been inspected by a
state
of Wisconsin inspector before they issued a title. The car passed all
state and
federal laws and regulations. I have documentation to prove it.
Ms.[redacted]
commented about the price of the trade car, but many costly repairs were
done
to the car prior to putting it up for sale. Regarding additional fees
when she
returned to Illinois, there are no additional fees required to inspect a
car,
expect sales tax and registration. This is not the first time we sold a
car out
of the state of Wisconsin. There are no inspections required because the
car
has been inspected in the state of Wisconsin. The way I understand it
from her
complaint, she wants Ramsey Motor to pay for her sales tax in her home
state.
Sincerely,
I believe this owner is selling cars that are salvaged and claiming they are not. I asked for the VIN to run the car through car fax and found that the car was indeed totaled so I didn't go ahead with the purchase
I bought a car from here and was told that it s not a salvage and they told me they will send me the title to my address. I was surprised when I received the title that the car was a salvage and refurbished car. buyer be aware Ramsey Motors are not honest. They will try to cheat you because they get all their cars as salvage and they fix them then they sell to their customers. don't buy from them.
