Ramada Statesville

Review: We live in Georgia and booked a room at this hotel through an online service for a one-night stay to attend a family wedding. From the pictures posted, the hotel was more than acceptable for us. However, upon arrival, we were disappointed in the run-down condition of this hotel from the outside. As a result, we approached the front desk in order to check in but first asked to see the room so that we would feel comfortable with our stay since it did not appear as we saw it advertised online/website. We visited the room and immediately made the decision that the room was totally unacceptable and nothing like we had booked. The room was extremely smelly with a strong mold and mildew smell. It was decorated in very dark depressing decor which made it totally unappealing and hard to determine any uncleanliness. We decided to return to the front desk and let them know that we did not want to stay there because we felt we were misled from the pictures versus in person. Ricky (said he was the owner) became extremely defensive from this information and the more we told him the more upset he became. He even went so far as to threaten to call the police. We finally agreed to stay anyway as he said he would be charging for the night. At that point, Ricky said he would not give us a key and he would be charging for the room. He in fact did not give us the key as he stated and now has charged our card for that room. We were left with no hotel and out the cost of the night's stay all because the hotel misled us as customers on the internet pictures.Desired Settlement: Owner of this Ramada Inn denied us the ability to stay in the room yet charged us for it, therefore, he should refund the amount paid from us for that night's stay.
