Review: I purchased a pair of earrings through website. When they arrived, one of the earrings was bent and when I straightened it out it snapped in my hand. The earrings were so flimsy they could be crumpled up like a piece of paper. I contacted the seller. He asked for a photo and he was going to issue a credit. I told him that I wanted a refund and he said that he had an agreement with PayPal that the earrings had to be shipped to Thailand. He gave me instructions to place them in an unmarked parcel that I should label documents. I am attaching the email he wrote me here: Dear [redacted], Here is the full address for returning the item. Do write the words JEWELRY, EARRINGS or the value of the earrings on the parcel. Thailand has 90% import duties and you will be liable for these duties should the parcel attract attention. May I suggest you wrap the earrings in paper and mark the contents as DOCUMENTS with no value. Once shipped send me tracking number and ill insure the parcel through my insurance broker. Thank you kindly [redacted]. I need a photo of the earrings prior to being packed so I can insure them from my end please. Send UPS or registered AIRMAIL to the ensuing address: [redacted] The agreement that the seller has with PayPal is that they need to be shipped to Thailand, but PayPal's rules state that it has to be marked, insured, and signed for. The USPS cannot insure that the item will get to the address, only to Thailand. They will not send registered mail to Thailand as they can't get cooperation with the Thailand government. If I send them through FedEx, it will be over $100.00. I wasn't given a phone number. Why would the seller accept the item? It is defective. I have a $435.00 item that I am supposed to spend over $100.00 to ship back. If I mark it the way PayPal wants, it will get held up in customs. If I don't mark it the way PayPal wants, I am breaking the law as the seller suggested that I do. I am more than happy to ship it to the New York address. Warm Regards, [redacted] | Home of the magnificent Rainbow Sapphire Rings I have no problem sending a photo to the seller. PayPal told me to stop all correspondence with him. I did correspond with him again when I realized that PayPal is not being remotely responsible.Desired Settlement: I want the seller to refund my PayPal account $435.00 I want this seller investigated as this is a very shady way to do business.

Response:
Dear [redacted],
If the earrings were bent on arrival the customer should have contacted me for a
replacement set to be sent across, instead it appears she tried to bend them
herself and she broke them. This is admitted and in writing during her
complaint. How can I be held responsible for customers to be doing their own
fixes on jewelry items when clearly they don't have any experience in handling
such matters. In any case I asked for a photo so I could see the earrings for
myself and the customer refused to send one across.
Customers opinion that "The earrings were so flimsy they
could be crumpled up like a piece of paper"
is not entirely correct. Once she bent and broke the earrings of course
they are easy to bend more, she broke them!
Upon the customer breaking the earrings herself I asked that she forward an
image so I could see the damaged earrings and issue a RMA with an address but
she refused. I then received a dispute against this transaction in my paypal account.
Paypal asked the customer to return the goods to my Thailand office as
this is where the inspection needs to take place but she refused.
Let me recap, the customer broke the
earrings herself then refused to issue an image showing damage to the
earrings that she caused and then customer refused to ship earrings back in
order to receive either another pair or a refund. This seems quite
impossible for me to solve this problem given the refusal of all
request by customer.
