Unacceptable handling of a phone transaction leading to significant extra costs incurred by the customer and failure to acknowledge said issue.
On approximately 6/12/2019, I was contacted by Rae's accounting and Tax Service LLC, to provide information required in order to reprocess my 2017 tax return in order to obtain additional funds left out on my initial return. Once the information was provided and I was ready to provide payment, a card number was given but the amount to be charged was not provided whatsoever. When I asked the amount, it was too late and I had already been charged in the amount of $175.00. I explained that I cannot do this payment from that account at this time and to refund it immediately and that would contact them on the following Friday 6/14 (pay day)in order to complete everything and get the process rolling. Contact was made on Friday and I made it clear twice that I was providing a different card number for the transaction. I was then told that none of my prior credit card information was kept and that it was shredded, so the new credit card I provided should in theory be the only one that they have. When I checked my accounts the following Monday 6/17 I discovered that the money was taken out of the same account as before and not from the new credit card that I provided. I was told that was the only information that they had and that I never gave them the credit card number that I clearly had given on the Friday before. This caused my budget to misalign and a payment due to my credit card company could not be made because they had charged my checking account debit card for the amount of 175.00. I went not only delinquent but was also charged an additional 38 dollar late fee. When I was told I would have the paperwork to sign in order to process in a week (or the following Friday 6/21)I had received nothing. I gave it this past weekend and Monday 6/24 and still nothing. I decided to call them and speak to management about the matter but the individual I had been working with knew exactly who I was and immediately deflected from doing so and once again told how I was wrong and essentially given what is clearly lip service on the status of my paperwork with no regard to the position they had put me in. I was repeatedly cut off in the middle of talking and it simply amounted to a level of rudeness I don't expect to encounter in any transaction, especially once you have insinuated that I am a liar. So I am still waiting for paperwork and out 175.00 which is a completely outrageous amount to have been charged for this ridiculously unprofessional experience. I expect at this point to be refunded the 175.00 and this to cost me nothing.
I want my 2017 re-assessment processed free of charge. Period. I will never do business here again.

First and Foremost let me say that no work will be done or processed for free, unless we made an error on paperwork, which we did not.
Mr.s was contacted in regards to an amendment on 06/10/2019 and he called my office back on 06/11/2019 and he was informed that the amendment is 175.00 and he provided credit card information @ 3:45 pm and we ran the payment and shredded his credit card info after transaction was processed.
Then Mr. called back within the hour and asked if we could refund his card as he had bills to pay and he would call at the end of the week when he was paid to make payment. At 4:30 pm on the same day, I refunded Mr.s credit card immediately upon receiving his frantic call.
Just for the record, no paperwork is started or processed until after payment is received.
On Friday, June 14th, 2019, Mr.s called at 4:00pm and provided credit card information to process his payment for the amendment. He was informed of the 7 to 10 day window for his amendment. He paid on the 14th at 4pm, we close at 5pm and we are closed on the weekends. Mr ***s amendment was completed on the 24th and prepared for mail.
However, in light of this complaint that is untrue and slanderous, we will not be continuing a business relationship with Mr ***s in any way. Therefore, let the record reflect that I am refunding Mr.s credit card today in the amount of $175.00 today and that no further business will be conducted between Rae's Accounting & Tax Service LLC and Mr. Ronald ***.

Very clear and important omissions from this response. First and foremost , the amount WAS NOT REVEALED TO ME UNTIL AFTER the card was charged. Let's be very clear about that! Most of this could have been avoided had the handling of payment been performed in a communicative and professional manner. It was not. There is also ZERO mention that a different card number was given on the second call and clearly this is just denial on the businesses part. I am NOT satisfied and this is a completely unacceptable response. Your use of the word 'slanderous' is laughable and accusatory. You should be ashamed and admit the clear mistakes made. You obviously don't even understand the term slanderous.
If what Mr. stated is true, I do apologize and regret the circumstances that have necessitated this action, if given an opportunity to address the situation prior to this complaint , yes maybe this possibly could have been avoided.
Mr.s did state he would never do business with us again as a result a refund was issued immediately upon receipt of complaint.
We will not process the amendment for free. An amendment can involve further preparation or representation. Regrettably, the difficulty we have had in communicating with Mr. has led us to conclude that it is necessary for us to terminate the relationship and for Mr. to proceed with new advisers.
This complaint was reviewed with all staff members to insure procedures are followed including the expected level of customer service.
Once again , not in denial- stating the procedure in which credit card information is handled in this office is that once payment is collected the credit card information is then shredded same day. Without any insinuation as a consumer myself I do find it hard to believe anyone would supply credit card information without acknowledging the amount to be charged.
