In meeting with the representative, as I reviewed the contract, and asked questions, they explained their terms verbally in such a way to convince me that $3,100 was a fair price for their service. For instance, they told me the 9 introductions didn’t mean 9 contacts, but 9 successful matches that I had met with face to face. The matches were people who were good matches, and they had me detail the things most important to me in that other person. For instance, educational backround, religious orientation, and interests. In addition, they told me they did criminal history checks and credit checks to make sure these were safe as well as persons who are who they say they are. They told me they would be honest with me, and that if they did not have good matches with me, they would refund my money.It took a long time before they had a match, which they sent minimal information on the person. Thinking this was a good possibility, when this person asked me to send a photo of myself and asked where I lived, I gave him the information right away. Then, as I spoke with him, he had no indication of any personality. I asked him for a picture. What he sent was a man in the distance with sunglasses and a hat. I couldn’t see who he was at all. My gut made me concerned as to who this person was, but I just did not pursue it, and he said he was going away and to tell the Pittsburgh Singles I would like a new referral. The second person, I again waited and thought it was going to be a good match. Met with twice, at 12noon and then in the late morning. He had been drinking alcohol. At the second meeting, he showed me his gun. He had both serious cognitive problems and health-asked to ride bikes but he was so impaired that I was concerned he was going to have a heart attack. And he proceeded to tell me of a heart problem. I attempted to question how they were determining these matches, and they were extremely defensive, and asserting I should trust them and give these other members a chance.The next guy was very nice, but had continuous emergencies and tragedies, and kept putting off meeting. I wanted to take my time before judging. We met a few times, he insisted on meeting near my house, and evasive about his family and community-but to make a long story short, I found he was lying to me. He said he had to work and I found him driving by my house when I came outside to go in the car. I realized he was driving an older car he owned, and had his hat down low. I tried calling him and he didn’t answer at first, then left me a message very nervous and said he was just leaving work. It was very creepy-I wondered how many times he had been doing this-and if he was doing this to others. Also, if he didn’t want to meet me in other areas because he had gotten in trouble for stalking.I reported this to Pittsburgh Singles. I asked them to contact him and tell him if he comes around at all I would call the police. They did not call him, he had continued to call me. Then I called them again asking them to call (they admitted they did not). I now realized they did not regard my safety, and that it was likely they are not doing criminal checks.The next two people that called (referrals) it only confirmed that they were not screening anyone, nor really looking for any kind of reasonable match.  The next person started the conversation about guns and was only looking for someone to shoot guns with him. I believe he was unemployed. The next person was unemployed, uneducated, living with his x wife, renting a room form her. I stopped responding to these referrals. I am concerned these folks are thieves, and they ripped me off completely of $3,100. They are now referring in their defense to their contract. My question is: who would pay $3,100 for what they are describing as their service? They expanded on what they had in writing. They lied to me.They are thieves. And they took my credit card and explained to me they needed it to do a credit check on me.  I am concerned they may also do further criminal harm: ie-identity/credit card theft.

Singles takes every member complaint very seriously, and it concerns us that Ms.
[redacted] was so unhappy.  However, Pittsburgh Singles
has a firm ''no refund policy'' (See paragraph 4a. of the contract, which
states: ''EXCEPT WHAT IS OTHERWISE PROVIDED HEREIN,...

THERE IS NO RIGHT TO
RESCIND THIS AGREEMENT.  Pittsburgh Singles does not grant refunds or
accept cancellations of any kind, unless otherwise stated in this
agreement.'').  Once a person enrolls in our membership and pays for our
service the sale is final.  No right exists for that person to obtain a
refund any time thereafter simply because that person changed their mind.  Ms. [redacted] became a member of Pittsburgh
Singles on August 23, 2015, purchasing nine (9) introductions.  To date,
Ms. [redacted] has personally received one (1) introduction.  Ms. [redacted] has refused all service from
Pittsburgh Singles, immediately requesting a refund.  Pittsburgh Singles has tried on numerous
occasions to speak with Ms. [redacted] about her dissatisfaction, but Ms. [redacted] will
not return the telephone call. As stated in paragraph 3b. of the contract (which Ms. [redacted] initialed), ''An
introduction is made when Pittsburgh Singles provides you with a name and a
phone number of another member.''   Additionally, paragraph 3b.
(''PREFERENCES'') of the contract states, ''Preferences are used as a guideline
for Membership services when seeking potential introductions.  As
introductions are based on an AS-AVAILABLE basis, introductions will be made
that are as nearly compatible to a member's preferences at any given
time.''   Further, the same clause states: ''Pittsburgh Singles, its
agents and assigns, do not represent the characteristics, availability,
quantity or demographic make-up of its membership base at any time.  You,
the Member, acknowledge that the membership base changes on a daily basis due
to changes in membership status, including, but not limited to: new
enrollments, expired membership, members becoming involved in relationships,
members traveling, and members temporarily suspending their
memberships.''  Further, an Addendum to the
contract, signed by Ms. [redacted] states the following: ''...I understand that my
preferences are 'preferences' and not 'requirements'.  If at any time Pittsburgh
Singles is unable to select an introduction who fulfills all of my preferences,
Pittsburgh Singles will select an introduction who is compatible with my
preferences but who may not meet all of the preferences I indicated in my
profile.'' Having said that, Pittsburgh
Singles is generous about replacing the introductions that do not result in
meetings or result in very disappointing meetings.  Ms. [redacted] is no
exception to this generosity. Because Pittsburgh Singles aims to please, Pittsburgh
Singles will work hard to find the right introductions for Ms. [redacted]. Based upon an analysis of Ms.
[redacted]'s membership file thusfar, it appears that Pittsburgh Singles is
providing service to Ms. [redacted] precisely in the manner he contracted for.  Pittsburgh Singles is performing according to
the stated contract terms and services are most definitely being rendered as
agreed.  At Pittsburgh Singles we
understand that when people become members of such a personal service they may
second-guess their decision.  Customer satisfaction is important to Pittsburgh
Singles, and our staff looks forward to continuing to work with Ms. [redacted] in
the process of finding that right match. Pittsburgh Singles has kept
its side of the agreement and has remained within the parameters of the
contract. Ms. [redacted] is not entitled to a refund.

Pursuant to Mr. [redacted]'s request, Pittsburgh Singles agrees to cancel Mr. [redacted]'s future payments.  His membership with Pittsburgh Singles will also be terminated as a result.  We wish Mr. [redacted] the very best in his future endeavors.

Mr. [redacted]'s last payment was withdrawn on July 3, 2015.  As stated in our previous response, no further payments will be withdrawn.  The account is considered closed.

I am not second guessing my joining a dating service.  What I am second guessing was picking Pittsburgh Singles.  You would think that a person's personal preferences for a match would be top on the list of the service provide...  that the dating service would have to use as they matched the person with other members; not that they can just randomly pick someone that has also signed up for the service.  They put personal preferences isn't a reason to feel they did not provide the service promised in the contract but that is not what the salesperson uses as a selling point; in fact, it is the complete opposite.  Also, I would have appreciated honesty in another matter... that they do not have members as close to me as what we talked about.  The men I was to meet were all older than I had stated.  I talked to other members and they were not happy with the introductions they had been given either. This was to be a service that provided better matches than going on [redacted] and it has not.  When they put a no refund policy in their contract that's allowing them to provide whatever shoddy service they want to give without any accountability.  No wonder they have dissatisfied customers.  I was open to finding someone my age, a professional with a college degree but instead they sent introductions out of my age bracket, who were retired and had health problems such as heart attacks and strokes.  I just turned 55 and am not looking to be someone's nurse as they get older.  They have you sign this big contract while you are in with the salesperson... and it did seem shady when they said about the no refund policy but I figured, at that time, that if they provided the service the salesperson was promising then I wouldn't want or need a refund.  However, what the salesperson promises and what they have in their contracts are two different things.

To date, Mr. [redacted] has personally received seven (3) introductions. Included herein are duplicate copies of the introduction letters he received depicting each of his introductions. Of the three introductions Mr. [redacted] has received so far, he has had limited success, but that is no fault of Pittsburgh Singles. Mr. [redacted] met with his first introduction (“[redacted]"). Written feedback from Mr. [redacted] stated that she wasn’t necessarily his type, but that he may want to meet with her again. His second introduction to "[redacted]" didn't result in a positive match, as it appears that [redacted] never returned any of Mr. [redacted]’s phone calls. However, that is not the company's fault. Mr. [redacted]’s third introduction, to “[redacted]" was also not a positive match. As Mr. [redacted]’s divorce was not finalized, [redacted] felt it was not appropriate for them to date, as she was Catholic.As stated in paragraph 3b. of the contract (which Mr. [redacted] initialed), "An introduction is made when Pittsburgh Singles provides you with a name and a phone number of another member."
