I am a paying guest. One of the staff named j has taken the liberty of calling me a derogatory term for a gay person and threatened to beat me up. If this is how this business wants to operate it would behoove them to move to the past.

Review: On the evening of August 29th, 2013, my partner and I went to check in at a San Diego hostel, RK Hostel, located at 642 W Hawthorn St. Upon arriving we found that our reservation for a 2 bed dorm, which I had booked months earlier, was not on the books, despite my having called a week ahead to confirm. We were put up in a 13 bed dorm instead due to all of the 2 bed dorms being filled. The 13 bed dorm was very dirty and kind of smelly, and the mattresses were quite dirty as well. The next morning the front clerk was being very loud, and when I asked if he could quiet down he seemed shocked not knowing that we had been put in there. He came charging into the room, despite my asking him not to, as my partner was changing. We decided to leave at that moment. About an hour later I discovered many bed bug bites on my arms, back, feet, and stomach. I have since tried emailing them twice to request a refund and they have yet to respond. I have cc'd them on this email. Thank you for your time.Desired Settlement: I wish to have our money ($42) refunded, and for the hostel to pay any costs that we might incur if it turns out we brought the bed bugs back to our apartment.

lam sorry that Brian [redacted] was unhappy with R.K. Hostel service.

RK Hostel office hours as posted on our web site as well as Hostelworld.com are between the hours of

8am to 10pm guest who have a reservation but do not arrive or contact the hostel before 10pm are

subject to canclelatlon or amending of their reservation which can include but is not limited to

changing of room type or number of beds in room. When guests make an online reservation there is a

10% fee charged up front leaving the remaining balance due upon check in, for e-mail or Phone

reservation there is no fee charged.

We searched through both booking agencies that RK Hostel uses and unable to find a booking for

them and can only assume that this was a phone reservation with no fee charged.

Mr. [redacted] and his partner arrived around 3am in the morning of 9/30/13 there reservation was

automatically canceled after 10pm 9/29/13. Upon their arrival the only beds we hid available were in

our 13 bed dorm which was empty at that time. Only Mr. [redacted] and his partner were staying ln this

room. It was explained to them that this would only be for the first night and that they would be

moved to the appropriate room the next morning.

Bed Bug Issue:

If you receive a bite from a Bed Bug It swells up Immediatly. Mr. [redacted] never complained to the staff

or showed any evidence of being bitten by bed bugs while they were here or when they checked out

from RK Hostel.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

[I arrived at midnight and had called a week in advance to make sure that arriving at that time would be okay, and was told that it would be. The bed bug bites appeared an hour or so after I left RK Hostel, and bed bug bites do not always appear right away, they can take up to two weeks to appear according to the CDC [redacted]://[redacted]. Pictures of the bites are attached to this message. Additionally [redacted] of on RK Hostel on many websites make similar compalints: [redacted]://[redacted]l, [redacted]://[redacted]-**-**&[redacted]://[redacted]. Lastly, I was called by the manager about a month ago and told that I was going to be given a refund for my stay and even thought I've given them my mailing address for the check I have still not received it. ]
