I received a root canal & crown from RC Dental for a total of $750 for which I paid in full. I received an additional bill for $600 2 months later.
On 11/19/2012 I went to RC Dentalto have a root canal and crown down. I was shown a purposed treatment plan for this procedure but never received a copy of it from the office staff. I did agree to and sign this treatment plan to receive a root canal and crown (along with core build up and accompanying procedure to root canals)for a total price of $750.00.I was told on this date that one dentist would perform the root canal and another dentist would do the remaining procedures immediately afterwards. Prioe to leaving the office I made a payment of $480.00 with my visa debit card on this date. On 12/10/12 I returned to RC Dental to be fitted for my crown. I then paid the balance of bill in the amount $270.00 with my visa debit card for a grand total of $750.00. Paid in full!!! However, approximately 2 months later on 02/23/13 I received a bill from RC Dental dated 02/18/13 in the amount of $600.00. Knowing this had to be a mistake I dug up my receipts(which I have in my possession now)and called RC Dental. I was informed by one of the office personnel,a "Rhianne" that my insurance company had called them and said that they were not covering my root canal because I was seen by a specialist? This dental office knew the day I had my root canal that 2 dentists were doing my procedures. They never informed me prior to, during,or after that my procedure would cost $1350.00 instead of $750.00. They never showed me a proposed treatment plan, or provided me with a copy of a proposed treatment plan for this amount nor did I sign any proposed treatment plan or any documents agreeing to pay this amount. Two months later they decide to inform me in a bill dated 02/18/13. This is insane and I am shocked, amazed and furious at the same time. Had they informed me ahead of time my procedures would have cost this much I would have declined! The dental office has all the dental codes at their disposal for dealing with insurance companies. They knew what procedures I was having performed...I should not have to pay for their mistake or greed whatever the case may be. I had paid my bill in full and completed all my dental work. My dentist Dr. [redacted] was great! I cannot say anything bad about him or the other dentist Dr. [redacted]. However, this bill, their billing practice and their failure to provide a proposed treatment plan outlining all costs for this procedure, failure to provide a copy of the proposed treatment plan period, and failure to obtain an authorizing signature for this procedure is unethical, appalling, bad business practice and illegal.
