The $bill that the complainant request refund for is not just for the
medicine(it also covered the cost of blood work which is $that revealed patient has *** disease) and it covered items(anti-inflammatory medication for the joint, pain killer, antibiotics to cover for possible bacterial infection in the ***, anti-inflammatory drug for the ***, *** supportive drug, and pill wrap.Client was informed about pricing and signed the credit card receipt.Client called few days later to return the medicine, however no clinics(human or veterinary) or pharmacy will give a refund for any returned medicine because we can't use it as it might get contaminated from the client mishandling of it.We can't issue a refund for the medicine neither for blood work a it was necessary to run it (and it proved a point). We never run any test unless it's necessary and radiographs were taken to find out if there were any fractures(the reason it was expensive is we have to sedate the dog for it so there was a charge for sedation)
Review: We travelled 1700 by car from [redacted] to visit our son in [redacted] for the [redacted] holiday. We took our little dog on the trip. On the evening of 11/**/14, the dog slipped from a small chair he was resting on and injured his left hind leg. Had this incident occured while were in [redacted], we would have waited a day or two before seeking medical attention for the dog.But since we were so far away from home, we chose to consult a local vet since we had so far to travel to return home. We selected the Queens Animal Hospital at [redacted] in [redacted] as it was close to my son's apartment. We trusted that the vet would treat the dog at resonable cost. The vet charged $422.00 for an X-ray and exam.....concluding that the dog sustained a minor ligament injury, and that there was no broken bones. We paid the $422.00 (which we thought an exorbitant charge) and then the vet proceeded to order bloodwork and almost $250.00 in totally unnecessary medications that we could not administer to the animal. So we paid an additional $352,00 on top of the $422.00 for a total of $774.00!!!!We called the vet the next day and advised that we could not administer the meds, and further that the dog didn't need them as his leg was back to normal. She refused to accept the meds, or to adjust the bill.We feel were were victims of an unscrupulous service provider who seized an opportunity to grossly overcharge for unnecesary services and medications.Since we paid by credit card, we instructed our bank to place a hold on the $352.00 payment and have been working with them to reverse this charge from our account.WE FEEL WE WERE VICTIMIZED BY AN OVERLY AGGRESSIVE SERVICE PROVIDER WHO SEIZED AN OPPORTUNITY TO TRY TO MAKE A QUICK BUCK ON AN [redacted] COUPLE WHO WERE VISITING [redacted] FOR ALLEGED SERVICES AND MEDICATIONS THAT WERE TOTALLY NOT NEEDED. WE HAVE RETURNED THE MEDS TO THE VET BY [redacted].[redacted]Desired Settlement: Ensure that this vet CANCELS THE CHARGE TO US FOR $352.00
