One of the worst lawn care companies I have ever had.. Why: 1. They promised to have the owner on-site most of the time. Never happened. 2. High crew turnover.. It was a nightmare. 3. However, I stuck with them and then they decided to stop my service with ZERO days notice!
What a way to run a railroad. That is what you call real customer service!

Quality by Design exceeded expectations in every way. The owner and entire staff were really on my side in a dire situation to get my house sold. I was seeking some modest improvement on a few eye sores, but getting their full-service package in addition to some design was the right choice because within a matter of weeks the entire premises was lush and crisp and brand new.
The house has sold, it feels good to leave it much better than I found it, and I will certainly use Quality by Design again.

Quality By Design has been doing our lawn service for about two years. Jeff and Valerie are great to work with and happy to customize whatever we needed done.

I feel I was ripped off by Jeff. I did not get the lawn I paid for or the maintenance of my irrigation system.
In May we paid Jeff thousands of dollars to replace our lawn, put in a new irrigation system, and plant shrub. We have a beautiful back yard. The front lawn has been replaced 3 times with weed infested half dead grass. Asked repeatedly for sprinkler system to be adjusted during the month of Oct. The crew would say they were fixed, but when they left no change I had to hire another company to repair and adjust system.
I want money to replace my front yard or the lawn I paid for.

1. We have empathy and feel for this customer; since we are the 3rd company to lay sod for her entire property - the first two didn't take as you can see from our before photos when we first did our preliminary visit. And unfortunately, most sod companies don't guarantee their sod installation; like we do if we're maintaining and taking care of the property on a regular basis. Since we guarantee any landscape plantings - including sod installations; if we're maintaining the property weekly - we certainly don't want to keep spending money on new sod - so in turn we continue to treat it until if and when it might need to be replaced and then we replace it at our expense.
2. We certainly want every property we maintain to be looking in pristine condition; since our name is attached to it - especially every week when we're there - our trucks have our name on it and our uniformed employees have our name on their uniforms.
3. Our normal policy is to visit the property; take photos; make an assessment; give a proposal to the prospective client; and hopefully sign them up on a maintenance plan to guarantee all of our work. The customer wasn't able to use her email that much; since she was at the hospital with her husband so often; so, we instead had to resort to*** mail for all correspondence. She called us quite frequently; in fear of her lawn declining; and Jeff himself visited her very often in between our regular maintenance visits to take care of any issues she was under the impression was occurring on her property.
4. The front yard nor the back yard didn't contain weeds and definitely wasn't dead after our first complete sod installation. The sod that was installed in the back yard was the exact same sod that was installed in the front, from the same company, from the same fields; same day delivery and installed within two consecutive days.
5. Part of the front yard grass did decline though; our efforts to correct it were not successful; so, we replaced it. As time went on; there were still issues with part of the same area again; which we replaced a third time; after trying to treat it; as per this customer admitting in her Revdex.com complaint. Later to find out by her neighbors and herself that that particular front area section; was problematic for 20 years; So, the last time we replaced it; we removed the existing soil; replaced it and treated the ground with fungicide and insecticide hoping to resolve the pre-existing issues prior to installing the new sod a third time. All along; containing no weeds. We would have continued until we got it right; as is our policy; and repeatedly told her this; had she not had such a cantankerous attitude; being verbally abusive; belligerent, threatening and combative with our office staff and the owner Jeff R; she was simply unable to have a conversation. It became obvious her goal was to verbally abuse and slander us rather than resolve the problem. The last time we had a conversation with her; we couldn't even get a word in; at that point - We felt like our good intentions; and willingness to resolve this issue was over. We'd gone above and beyond and we were finished. We have no interest in working with an abusive person who didn't wish to resolve this at the time of the complaint. We don't intend on visiting her property again to get abused and/or threatened. And it's now been over a month since we've serviced the property and we have no idea what has been done to it during the interim.
6. And as far as the irrigation goes; there was never a problem. Every time there was an issue; we resolved it. The final complaint she made with an irrigation issue; we would have resolved on our weekly visit; however, she chose in between to have someone else fix it; she didn't have to do that; but she chose to; there is a difference. It was less than a week from the complaint that she hired someone else.
7. Also; several times what this client thought was a leak in the system and/or a broken pipe; was a sprinkler head called a "bubbler" which creates a slow puddle at the base of the plant rather than a sprinkler spraying it out with force. We tried to explain this to her; but she didn't understand. She's an older lady with issues; her husband is very sick and in and out of the hospital and we're almost certain that it's all these issues that has been contributing to her misunderstanding and state of mind.
8. Attached please find our before photos when we first contracted with this client; photos of the installations being performed on her property; photos of 2nd and 3rd sod replacements; a copy of our termination letter - and a photo of her lawn as of the original date of the complaint made to our office and our service termination date. All photos have the "info" dates and times each photo was taken.
9. We do have copies of more documentation; if needed and email correspondence (as few as there were)

The reason I would have been belligerent or abusive on the phone was I was treated that way. As to my age and mental stated do I not have a right to complain of sub-par work just because I'm elderly?
You didn't question my sanity when you took THOUSAND of dollars of my money
The only threat I made was to go on line and post a complaint, and you said you would sue me for "defamation of character."
My neighbors know what shape my front lawn was in, weeds, half dead grass, ruts from the grass not put down properly.
I've had to hire an irrigation company to fix my irrigation system and a landscape company try and do something with this front lawn.
In longer have the strength or heart for this, I have a death.

It's a shame you wouldn't accept our last offer to take care of whatever you felt was the issues with your front yard when we spoke to you last - We did go by your property (11/9/2017), the day after that very same call , when you terminated us as your lawn maintenance company; refusing any resolutions; and took photos of the condition of your front yard, for our records; prior to the date of your Revdex.com complaint of 12/1/2017- These photos and several others, taken during the course of our lawn maintenance contract with you; and their detailed info; are available upon request."
