Review: Mr. [redacted] of Quality Auto Outlet in Vista, CA refuses to refund a cash deposit for a vehicle purchase I decided not to proceed with. I left a $200.00 cash deposit (less than the $500.00 Mr. [redacted] originally requested) and received a deposit receipt clearly stating "refundable" in order for Mr. [redacted] to start the paperwork. I informed him a week later that I did not want to proceed with the purchase and requested that he return my deposit via mail. Mr. [redacted] refused to honor the "refundable" deposit stating it was only refundable if the purchase had gone through, something that was clearly not disclosed to me at the time of negotiation otherwise I would not be asking for my money back. Mr. [redacted] claims that I misunderstood, and proceeds to justify the time he spent writing up the purchase contract, faxing the lender, and paying for a smog check (which is the seller's responsibility under California law) as "expenses" he incurred. He also blatantly lied and stated he painted the front bumper of the vehicle in question (an item I had concerns about) when no such agreement was made, and therefore part of his expenses.I had walked away from the dealership leaving my cash deposit, but did not sign any agreements or a purchase contract. There are no visible signs of such a policy regarding vehicle deposits, nor was any stipulations properly disclosed to me either verbally or written.Desired Settlement: I would like a full refund of the cash deposit I left in one lump sum in the amount of $200.00 to be mailed to my address on file within 5 business days, no later than Monday, July 15, 2013.
