[redacted] was advised that her insurance may not cover the cost of the 3D tomosynthesis ordered by her physicianShe agreed to have the service done at a cost of $with the understanding that if her insurance carrier did pay, she would be reimbursedHer insurance denied the service thus the $ was not refundedOur message does NOT state that 3D Tomosynthesis is done at no chargeAs for why her colleagues were not charged at other practices is beyond me - I can only attest to what our policy isThe patient signed an Agreement to Pay upon registration as well as signed her credit card receipt - she was fully aware of the cost

I am rejecting this response because: I reiteratethere are two women in my place of employment who have exactly the same insurance and were not charged. They were also told that they SHOULD not be charged for this service. There is no difference between the wellness appointments they had and the one I had, all yearly exams without outstanding issues. Why does this apply to some and not to others. This is considered unethical practices. I do not accept this excuse from the provider and will not use them again. Nor would I recommend them and I will be sure to warn anyone who might be considering using them. If they made an error in medical coding, that is not my fault and it can be considered discrimination. If the provider claims to have told me about their version of the reimbursement, it would have been to benefit there organization financially. It does not mean it is ethical or complies with treatment across the board for all members under the same plan, going for the same treatment. I was told afterward that some providers will say that in order to cover their own needs. Not very fair to a patient with the same insurance. In the future, I will go to the providers that my coworkers suggested and I will be sure to let everyone on all social media know my experience. If the provider chooses not to refund, I will proceed with that through state channels
