To whom it may concern:In response to the customer complaint ID *** dated August 1st, referring to the concrete work located at *** *** **Lincoln IL.Upon inspecting the job on 5/18/and 6/28/17, the cracks were very small and hardly noticeable hairline type cracks, that were caused
from the swimming pool walls settlingThe pool is around a year old fiberglass pool which we did not sell/installWe did not drain the pool during construction as to keep the pool walls in place and to cut down on flexing. We removed 10'' to 12'' thick concrete at no extra cost, along with the extra haulingThis concrete thickness is a on swimming pool decks. We used compactable fill around the entire job to bring up to the the proper thickness of 4''In order to do this, we had to use ton of the fill which, according to our contract, would have been at the expense of the homeownerHowever, we did not charge them for the extra fillFor the record, our contract also was based on the existing concrete being 4" thick, not 10'' - 12''.As far as the discolored rings around the perimeter of the pool, after inspection, it appeared to be from the winter cover and water bag's which were installed for the closing of the poolThis would fall under the contract as consequential damage which was completely out of our control. In regards to the phone calls, the homeowner has called the store several times, and has talked with myself, my wife, and a few of our employeesI did explain to them that the pool walls are flexing and that we needed to let things go for a couple months and then go back to seal the cracks. In our defense, we always go out of our way to provide the very best quality deliverables in every aspect of our work (hence the no extra charge for the hauling off the concrete and extra fill) and I personally am on the job site making sure our work is completed safely and to industry standard as well as my company's standards. We have photos of the job taken before, during, and after, to prove our caseI have contacted my insurance provider for further discussion in this matter.Sincerely,Rick Whiteman | OwnerP & W Pool and Spa Inc
