Review: I have been a member of this credit union for many years. My husband is in the army and we have been sent to Alaska and are on the downside of our 3 years here. This is a temporary assignment. We have a home at [redacted] in[redacted] GA that we OWN! It is a permanent address for us.. I found out that on the accounts I have at this credit union, I am being charged a 10.00 bad address fee.. on my personal account (the main one) this fee has been charged for the months of Aug 2013 through Nov. 2013 at an amt of 10.00 a month. That equals 40.00 for the personal account that has been stolen by Proponent. For the custodial account for my son.. the fees were taken out starting in May of 2013 through March of 2014.. that is 110.00 that has been stolen from that account. They have offered to put back half of that and I find that extremely unacceptable. It would be different if I didn't own the property and home in GA and that is where we will be returning too. They have also stolen from my daughter's account in the amt of 110.00 from her savings account. The time frame for her was also May of 2013 through March of 2014. Apparently they don't want to do the right thing by refunding what belongs to me and my family and keep money that does NOT belong to them!Desired Settlement: A full refund of all amounts stolen by the credit union for a 'bad' address fee. [redacted] is my permanent home address!

Response:
Proponent Federal Credit Union has conducted a thorough reveiw of this complaint. Our findings show that the fees began in April of 2013 after mail sent to the GA address was returned by the United States Postal Service. Attempts to contact the member at the GA and AK addresses for clarification were unsuccessful. Therefore, all bad address fees were assessed in line with Federal regulations and according to our fully disclosed Rate and Fee Schedule. However, because fees were triggered by the [redacted] returning mail sent to a "good" address, Proponent has rebated all bad address fees on all three accounts. The accounts have been notated accordingly to avoid future occurences. We apologize for any inconvenience.
