I was charged $320 for a warrantied repair which was almost double what other companies would charge for the same repair
On the morning of September 28th @ approximately 4 am I called ProTech as my home AC unit had quit working. This is a Trane unit that was installed by ProTech in 2015. I was told there would be a $99 diagnostic fee plus the cost of labor for any parts repair since the system was still under warranty. When the technician arrived he determined the issue and repaired the system within 15 minutes by replacing a bad capacitor that was causing the condenser unit to not function. I was then informed that I was being charged $99 for the diagnostic and an additional $220 to install the capacitor which was approx $50 less than the normal price of $270 for the part. I was at work and had my wife pay for the repair since I was not at home. When I did get home there was no receipt and I called to request one on the 29th and again called on 9/30 and still never got a receipt for the charge or the invoice I was asking for. I took it upon myself to look up the part that was replaced and the average price was between 20 - 90 dollars. ProTech feels justified in charging inflated prices because they lump the part and labor cost into the part. I feel that charging $880 per hour for labor is well above the industry average, most AC companies waive the diagnostic fee if you pay for the repair. I called 3 other companies and the average cost for the repair was around $150 - 175. I will NEVER do business with ProTech ever again as I feel they worry more about how much to charge a customer versus providing a quality service at a fair price.
I feel that I should at bare minimum get an invoice for the charges as requested and a partial refund of the charges, I would accept a refund of at least $100 if they were to offer it which would make the charge still high but not a complete rip off. No apologies wanted as I never intend to do business with them again and also will no longer refer anyone to them for service.

On Friday, September 28, 2018 at 3:52AM in the morning Mr. *** called in to request service on his air conditioning system that was not working. Our dispatcher scheduled to have the equipment serviced the same day. Our trained technician performed a full diagnostic on the equipment to determine what was wrong with the air conditioning and what was right. He tested all components that include but not limited to the following: Evaporator and condenser coil condition, the condition of the drain line to determine if it was clear and draining, filter condition, blower wheel and used tools necessary to test and verify the condition of: thermostat, blower amps, capacitor, fan motor, compressor, contactor and all electrical components.
The dual capacitor was found to be bad and needing replacement. Our technician reviewed the needed repair with the customer and who approved and signed off on the needed repair prior to the technician installing the capacitor. The repair and price was approved.
Thorough Diagnostic of $99 - To send a trained certified technician out to go through the entire system front to back and test each component.
Dual Capacitor $221.41 - Includes the capacitor and labor to install the capacitor. Once the capacitor is installed the unit is tested for proper operation. A Pro-Tech employee fills out all necessary paperwork for warranty processing and a separate employee delivers the warranty capacitor back to the manufacturer. Pro-Tech will warranty all labor and material on the capacitor for one year after installation.

We placed a phone call to the customer on 10/17/18 after receiving complaint from Revdex.com and left a voicemail message with the customer. A Pro-Tech manager would be happy to speak to the customer and resolve the customer's concerns with pricing if given the opportunity. They not only have the most experienced Techs but they are very clean cut and nice to deal with. I used them for both my A/C & Plumbing and they were very punctual, but if they hit a snag they called to say what time they'll be delayed. They are expensive but not the highest, so you get what you pay for. They are very, very thorough and will be honest about telling you, that the system is fine and it could be something else that caused the problem (they did that to me twice). I also joined the "Comfort Club", so I get a discount and priority for appointments and no extra charge on weekends or holiday's. I have rental property, so this feature will pay for itself. I'm so impressed with this company I give it my highest ratings, compared to all the other repair companies I've called in the past and had to deal with poor service & call backs for not fixing it the first time.
