Estimator (Joe) came out and inspected my irrigation system on 9/7/17 as I explained that I wanted my system to work via my automatic timer. He (Joe) inspected my system and explained verbally and in a written estimate that my timer was working and that I needed to replace all three valves at a cost of $475.00 plus a 2 man crew to replace all missing emitters and make sure all plants are receiving water and adjust all the sprinklers then check timer and make sure it is working and set properly for an estimate of 1-2 hours at $150.00 per hour. I explained to Delila (who handles the billing and scheduling) that I would be at work when Joe came back to complete the work on Sunday. She said she would need a credit card on file to charge since I would not be there at work completion. I wanted confirmation that the charge would not exceed the $775.00 written estimate which she agreed to at that time so I provided my credit card information to her.
After delaying the work until Monday, Joe called me Monday evening to explain that my timer (that he said in writing and verbally worked) did not work now and that there would be another $300.00 charge to replace the timer. I explained to Joe that was not in the written estimate and a huge cost over-run and he needed to stay with the current estimate total of $775.00. Joe said he would talk to his Manager and call me tomorrow (Tuesday). I received a call from Delila at 7:44 A.M. this morning wanting to reschedule the installation of the new timer for Wednesday instead of today as Joe was on the far east side of town today. I explained to Delila about my conversation with Joe last night about talking with his Manager about the cost of the timer and that Joe was to call me this morning. Delila said she would call back after calling Joe and his Manager Matt. Delila did call back and said that Matt was offering a whole $25.00 off the cost of the timer or $275.00. Not acceptable as cost of timer online is under $100.00.
