Review: We recieved in the mail (not sure when, past month or so) a coupon in the form of a postcard from Direct Mail Works for a company we used, [redacted], that said we could receive 10% off for any deck, roofing/gutter, siding or window project. We recently (July 2) had our roof re-shingled by [redacted]. However, when we presented the coupon to our [redacted] representative, he said he had not heard of this, took the coupon and said he would check with his office.A few days later we recieved an envelope from [redacted]. In the envelope was a letter from the President of Direct Mail Works informing [redacted] that the coupon was in error. However, we still have not received any direct communication from a [redacted] or Direct Mail respresentative informing us that we will not receive the 10% discount. We strongly believe that, if we recieved a coupon in the mail offering a discount for services rendered, the company or companies offering that discount are thereby required to honor that discount.Desired Settlement: A 10% discount on the services rendered (new roof).

Response:
I am in receipt of your letter dated 08/02/13 in regards to [redacted] and a
postcard we ran with a 10% discount. The card in question ran in error due to a
miscommunication with our client [redacted]. No harm was meant by
[redacted] or Direct Mail Works and we apologize for any inconvenience
caused.
In any event, the disclaimer on the card clearly notes that the coupon must be
presented with or prior to signing any contract for services (copy enclosed). Mr.
[redacted] violated the disclaimer by not presenting the coupon to the [redacted]
[redacted] representative until after the contract was signed and the work was
completed. If Mr. [redacted] had produced the postcard and coupon prior to signing
the contract with [redacted] he would have been informed of the cards error
and had the option of taking his business elsewhere. All promotions including
postcards produced by Direct Mail Works are intended to deliver new business to
advertisers, not discount busi ness previously secured.
Regardless, I again apologize for the error and any inconvenience caused. I know
[redacted] to be a reputable, quality contractor. Direct Mail Works strives to
keep errors in the promotions we run for our clients, but we are human and errors
do happen on occasion.
