sunroof is off track, c) that there is an oil leak and d) that she would like the spare tire kit that she had prepaid installed. Our technician found that the trunk would not open because the convertible top was not closed. He found that we needed to replace the convertible top guides because they were what had failed causing the sunroof to be off track. The repair was approved at $2271. (Parts had to be ordered) The oil pressure switch was leaking ($261) and he installed the spare tire kit (labor only). As part of the oil pressure switch replacement, the car received an oil and filter change and technician confirmed oil level at this time. While we were waiting on the convertible top guides to arrive, we became solely an [redacted] store. Our intention was to finish any car that had parts on order and to send all others to the nearest certified store. When the parts arrived for the convertible top repair, my technician removed the headliner to begin the repair. He discovered that the frame had been bent and that the guides that had been previously quoted would not fully address the customer's concern.Midway through the repair, [redacted] ts mother, Terry McDowell became our point of contact We called and explained to her the situation and told her that because we could no longer order Fiat parts, we were recommending that she took the vehicle to the nearest certified dealer. As a courtesy, my technician removed the frame pins and put the convertible top in in a closed position for ease of transportation. Knowing that the car was being taken to another dealership to have a new convertible top (per customer approval), the technician rolled the headliner that had been removed up and into the tail of the roof. When the wrecker arrived to pick up the vehicle, the customer was called and paperwork reviewed/payment taken. We explained again that the frame was bent, we (as a courtesy) closed the top, and that we placed the headliner in the rear of the area. Customer paid $347.99 over the phone for the labor of the spare tire kit and the replacement of the oil pressure switch. She did not pay anything for diagnosis of the convertible top, nor the time that the technician took to close the top.
