Review: In July 2012, my wife [redacted] was in the office of Dr Donna Barrese at Princeton Foot and Ankle for orthotics. I myself had had previous issues getting Princeton Foot and Ankle to work with my insurance company to get the orthotics covered. This service is 100% covered by my insurance company if processed with the correct codes. Due to this, I specifically requested that Dr Barrese pre-authorize the service codes with the insurance company to guarantee coverage before having the service completed and the orthotics built. Dr Barrese indicated to me that she indeed had had the service pre-authorized, so we proceeded.
After the service was completed, the service was not covered by the insurance company. I checked with the insurance company and found out that Dr Barrese verified 100% coverage, but she had lied to me as she had never had the service pre-authorized as I had requested. Even though the service was covered, they were not covered for the codes that Princeton Foot and Ankle submitted. I called the office many times, the last time being in May 2013. The office manager indicated that she would try to work with the insurance company and get back to me if there were any issues. I didn't hear from Princeton Foot and Ankle for a year, so I assumed that the issue was resolved. A year later, in May 2014, I again received a bill for $335 for the orthotics. Since they did not get back to me for over a year, the period of time where I could dispute the claim with my insurance company had passed. The account was submitted to collections.
Due to the fact that the doctor lied to me about the pre-authorization of the service, I believe that an unauthorized service was performed. Due to the fact that the office manager did not perform the promised follow-up, I had no options to work with my insurance company on the issue.Desired Settlement: I request that the $335 fee be waived, and that my account be cleared with the collections agency.
