I needed a Moving Company to move me from San Mateo, CA. to Cape Corel, FL. *** gave me a quote to move my home. I gave him a list of all the property to be moved. I said that it was a good price and wanted to reserve a date. He told me to give him a deposit now and if anything changed that he would refund the money. I told him to move me on a date and the crew showed up to start moving me. Once the foreman came in the house he said that it was a lot more to move than what was on the list and said it would be 6k to 8k more to move now. I said no and he kept calling *** and another boss of his. After 6 hours he said 4k more and that was a deal. I said no and they left saying that they would come back the next day to see if I changed my mind. I said no again and they left. I hired another company to move me to Florida. I called *** and he said that it was going to be very hard for me to get my deposit back and that he would not return it to me now. They are crooked and took my money for doing nothing. There should be a law against these kind of CROOKS. I am going to call the DA in Sacramento to files charges for Theft.
Dear Mr. W ***We are very sorry that we were not able to complete your transportation. Let us clarify and remind you of the chronology of events, which is stored in emails and phone conversations. You provided 66 items on your list for shipment and our company valued it at 12992.41 US dollars, you agreed and signed the contract on 05/27/20 at 12:06 PM. Under the contract, the transportation company undertakes to pack and transport from zip 94403 to zip 33993, and you, as a customer, undertake to pay a non-refundable deposit for the truck and service team reservation in the amount of 1492 US dollars (please, refers to the contract). On the appointed day of transportation, a professional team arrived and compared the list that you provided for transportation and the actual positions in your location, which turned out to be 46 more items, and you also increased the volume of loading from the second location, namely from your warehouse in Nevada, these information and related photos were provided by you only on the day our specialists appeared at your place. The foreman made a visual estimate of your transportation with additional items that were not taken into account at the time of signing the contract for 66 items. You have approved the reassessment and it was decided to finish the download the next day. The next day, when the team arrived, you notified the foreman that you were sick and asked to come the next day. Due to the fact that our loading schedule is tight and we care about the timing of all our customers, we suggested that you still finish the transportation on the appointed day, since we have already extended the pick up by a day. To which you said that you want to cancel the order.
At this point, we reminded you that according to the contract, the deposit is not refundable.
I am rejecting this response because: The salesman didn't put everything the list for them that I gave him. The salesman told them to take everything in the house and there foreman said that he did a phone estimate and it didn't matter. He made a sales person look like they were nothing and they were the reason that they were at my home. After 6 hours of going back and forth to the salesman and the foreman's boss they gave me a price 4k higher than the agreed upon amount in the contract. They did no work. they didn't pack anything. They didn't move anything. They are scamming people this way and I didn't go for it. I wasted all day with their BT and hired another company that did it for less money. I was lied to by everyone involved in their operation and want my money back. We will be going to court so tell them to get there phony documents and statements together. They did nothing to move my home and are lying about the way it went at my home. They had a 53' truck and 6 or 7 men waiting all day for there foreman to try and get a extra 4 thousand dollars. If I would have used them they would have done the same thing at my new address for more money. They owe me my deposit and will have to pay for the attorney's fees involved also.
We sent Prime the following email which detailed the issues with this company.
I sincerely cannot express enough my disappointment in your services, professionalism and overall horrific experience dealing with the company. Across 7 moves I have made, this is by far the worst I’ve ever experienced. Your packing team in SF under performed horribly, there was evidence these guys were hired off the street, and not trained employees. Had I known you had no professionals performing this work, I would have packed everything myself. The guys came at 11AM and didn’t leave till 9PM, when I was told it would be 5-6 hours. They also had no care for our place, left it a mess, with trash and empty bottles everywhere. We told them they could have drinks in our fridge to keep hydrated but they left their empties in every corner, and even drank our beer while on the job. Additionally, they ran out of packing paper halfway through and we ended up giving them some of our own.
On arrival in ***, only two people showed up, an older couple, at 2PM. By the time they started unloading it was 3:30pm. We were finished at 1AM. I moved a lot of furniture myself to hurry this up, my wife took pictures to show this. Completely unacceptable. This couple was professional and took care of our belongings, but two people for a 3 bedroom house was not sufficient.
I have informed all my colleagues in my industry to avoid Prime. I am planning a Revdex.com complaint as well as posting these pictures on both *** and *** for the heartache, pain and extra effort you have caused us during this process - my wife has shed a lot of tears over this move. Again, we have moved across the country many times, so this is not a new process for us, and we understand that a typical move does come with a few accidents, but the unprofessionalism and disrespect from Prime is at a completely new level. The way you will handle my claims will be telling of what I report out. Frankly, even with this financial claim, the work required to document all of this, and that will be needed to replace up to half our furniture, and many of our belongings, was time consuming and daunting. We have also had to delay moving into our new home as we take the time to replace and find some of the necessary items (bed frame, our couch legs, etc).
As we are unpacking, we have become more aware of how incompetant the crew in SF was, and we are completely flummoxed by how they organized our boxes. The boxes weren't labeled at all (no idea where to start or which room they belong in), and most of the boxes are so unprofessionally packed that it appears they literally just swept shelves worth of stuff in a pile in the biggest boxes on hand. The couple unloading in *** said they had never seen a job like this before. Since books and many other objects were crammed in wardrobe boxes, and clothes were stuffed in, to the brim (not hung), it was incredibly difficult for them to lift these boxes - and equally as difficult for us to sort through and unpack them. Our suits have been stained from this process (they weren't hung, and had shoes piled on top of them), some of our kitchen items have been paired with very dirty items, like outdoor mats and shoes, our expensive kitchen knives were strewn in a wardrobe box with no wrapping or protection, causing my mother to cut herself when she reached in the box, and some of them to warp/dull. Additionally they did not wrap any fragile items, except for the items in the kitchen. Our roomba, mirrors, scale, plant pots, paintings, etc were just thrown in boxes unprotected with other items. Although we are not professional movers, we could have done the job so much better ourselves. Our goal in hiring professional movers, was to have our stuff packed better than we could have done, not significantly worse. For this reason, we are also asking that the packing fee be returned to us.
It's clear that this crew was also lazy in packing and protecting our furniture. Some items like our kitchen cart, futon, and others were not wrapped or protected at all so they became dirty and beat up. Other items could have easily been saved from damage with just a bit of thought and extra work (removing the legs or a shelf for example before packing). Like I mentioned, we understand that accidents happen naturally in such a big move, but what we cannot understand is the laziness, incompetence, and complete disregard and care that the movers took towards our belongings. Nick Fresno sold me a sham of a service. I will do my best to ensure the pubic understands how you are masqurading as a moving company.
Please see the attached document that details all the issues uncovered THUS FAR (we still have a lot of unpacking to do), and the claims on the items. Over 1/2 of our furniture has been damaged in some way. Some we saw happen directly in SF by the obvious carelessness of the crew - they dropped our cooler down the stairs, broke several glasses while packing, etc.
Please see the attached document for all the damage, cost, and affiliated pictures.
Dear ***, we would like to express our apologies for the emotional costs you have incurred. We are very sorry that your expectations were higher than our capabilities, but we dare to assure you that all our specialists have been professionally trained and know their job, as we care about the reputation of our company. On the issue of financial costs, we are ready to provide you with compensation in the amount of 1000 US dollars. We would like to remind you that the contract contains the option of full value protection amount of liability coverage insurance that unfortunately you did not specify. This option covers possible damage during transportation in full. Moreover, this policy in the contract is required for all household movers. As far as you move a lot, please, make sure the option is listed in a contract and by choosing it you guarantee the financial coverage.
We kindly ask you to inform us on your decision regarding the offer.
