I originally provided *** with opportunity to do a paint correction on my 2011 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 for an agreed price of $500 while I would be assigned to a unit in VA for 2 months (active duty military). Two months had passed and the car was still not completed which wasn't a real issue since I was in another state however, I informed the owner I would be flying in and to please make sure the vehicle was completed since it is my only mode of transportation. I took an Uber from the airport and arrived around 9:30am on a weekday and found the shop wasn't open so I sat outside until he arrived for about 30 minutes. He explained to me the vehicle was not complete and I replied that he had 2 months to finish and I needed my car right away. I sat again at his shop for about 2 hours while he finished it. I was assigned to the middle east soon after the car was completed but was having mechanical issues with the car, I reached out to Matt asking if he knew anyone that could assist since I was in another country. He informed me that he had a master Chevrolet mechanic that could fix it and to have the car delivered back to his shop, mind you the car just received a paint correction and detail weeks before and just sat in a garage after. Nobody could figure out what the issue was so I did my own research and discovered what it was and had a personal friend attempt to pick up the car. After my friend tried coordinating with him numerous times and being unsuccessful he finally showed up unannounced to find my car sitting outside with a plastic tarp over the driver window in terrible condition. The plastic tarp had left stains all over the left side of the car which ruined the $500 paint correction. I also gave Matt the opportunity to fix the plastic fairings on my 2007 Ninja ZX14 which I dropped off at his shop with the intent to repair. Since then I have not heard from him, I brought 2 police officers to his shop which he told them I never dropped off anything to his shop.
Product_Or_Service: Paint Correction/Detail
Refund Refund for my paint correction since I have to have an actual professional shop re-do the job. Return all motorcycle parts in the same condition in which I origianlly delivered them.
Mr. brought us his Corvette for a paint correction. Our communication was through phone because he was currently deployed. The first thing we noticed is that the vehicle was in much worse condition than was described. I decided to not make an issue of it, but it was just going to take more work and time to get it done right. We completed the vehicle and Mr. checked over the vehicle himself. He was very satisfied with the work. He was so satisfied that a couple days later he brought us is red Kawasaki to repaint. We also completed that and he was very satisfied. He asked if I knew someone that could look at a motor issue on his corvette while he was deployed. I'm always trying to help, and sometimes I try to help too much and don't know when to say no. I agreed and picked up the car and took it to my shop. I agreed to help him with the motor issue through a friend that specializes in that type of vehicle as a favor and not as a formal service. There were many nights spent trying to resolve the issues on the car, but no luck. The vehicle was left at my shop for over six months. At no point did I ever agree to keep it inside the shop at all times. It's absurd to expect a shop to store a vehicle inside (that's not even paying for a service) for 6 months at no cost. We did try to keep it inside most of the time. It was also very difficult to move because it had a dead battery and didn't run correctly so it had to be pushed. One Sunday (closed on Sundays) I received a frantic phone call from his girlfriend saying he was in some sort of trouble with the military and that people from the military might be coming by to look at the corvette to investigate something. At this point I became very weary of the vehicle and really wanted nothing to do with it. I tried to call Mr. (via Facebook because he was overseas) but got no answer. Mr. eventually reached out and said that he was In some sort of trouble and needed to sell the corvette quick due to him being kicked out of the military and needing money. He said he was going to have a friend pick it up, and a couple times were scheduled (during business hours) to have it picked up but no one showed. I randomly received a phone call close to 9pm one night that he was at my shop and needed to get the car. (We close at 7pm.) I was currently at dinner and shouldn't be expected to drop what I'm doing with my family at 9pm at night. I had also told Mr. due to the vehicle being abandoned at the shop for so long, the vehicle had collected dirt, dust, and been occasionally rained on. I even agreed to clean it up for him but couldn't just drop what I was doing that second and said that we needed to schedule it. That apparently was not ok with him and he eventually had a friend pick up the car. He also had mentioned another motorcycle that needed work but nothing became of it. He brought the police to my shop asking about motorcycle parts. I very willingly let the police in and the searched for anything that could resemble anything of the parts Mr *** was referring to and found nothing. I also explained that we would have an invoice to the customer before any work was performed. Mr. could not produce an invoice. Just before this incident, it was made aware to me through a mutual friend that Mr. had mentioned causing bodily harm to me. I mentioned all of this to the police when they were at the shop. Mr. was then trespassed from the property and from contacting me directly. He then has just tried to post bad and false reviews on all my business pages and obviously now with the Revdex.com. Bottom line is that we were hired to do a job. We fulfilled that job. If Mr *** knew he was going to need motor work done to the vehicle he should have had the paint correction done after the fact. I also should not be required to store an abandoned vehicle inside for 6 months.
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The car was not abandoned for six months, I was in constant one way communication with him via Facebook messenger which he would constantly not reply to. If I recall correctly it was him who offered the help with diagnosis of the vehicle (he and his so call great mechanic thought it had motor issues although I told him countless times it was the fuel system). Some repairs were done to the car which I was billed for and still have the invoice for however, it did not fix the underlying issue with the car so of course the car sat at his shop while a few of his friends tried to diagnose motor issues. I finally lost my confidence with this process and arranged a close friend to pick it up. My friend attempted to communicate and pick the car up for over one month and even brought a member of the Sheriffs office over to assist. Matt would either not reply or say he would be at the shop and when my friend would show up he would not be there. I believe he would do this since he was so busy with other projects and during that time he allowed my car to get ruined, especially when the tarp was placed over the left side of the vehicle. The only reason Aaron (friend who picked up the car) was able to get the vehicle was due to him showing up unannounced. When he did this Matt drastically attempted to fix all the discrepancies however Aaron had already taken pictures and videos. The fact that I was paying his business money to fix my car and he allowed it to deteriorate in addition to ruin the paint on the passenger side all while I was serving overseas is comical and unprofessional. I have plenty of evidence to support all statements including a personal witness of me removing motorcycle parts and dropping them off at shop for repair, the reason I did not get an invoice right away was due to him not creating a quote for the job. As a business owner it is your obligation to keep open communication, provide accurate timeframes, return personal property in the same manner as dropped off and most of all not steal parts from them. I would like to upload all documents and messages regarding this situation, please let me know what steps I need to take.
