Review: Prevea Clinic/Hospital Sisters Health Systems is threatening to deny care for my disabled infant son who is on Medicaid if we cannot afford $100 prepayment for each of his visits.
He is dual covered by Prevea360 insurance and Medicaid, which pays all his copays and deductibles. The $100 prepay is not necessary.
Prevea's doctor caused his traumatic brain injury during his birth.
My husband is an employee for Prevea/HSHS.
The insurance is designed so that my son cannot be seen anywhere else, is required to pay $100 to be seen every time despite him having no self-pay balance, and they are threatening to terminate his care altogether for inability to prepay $100 per visit. His care is being threatened due to a bill that was owed by his sibling, not him.
The money that we prepaid on all his visits the past 12 months were not applied on the account. They were left out in an 'unapplied payments' bucket until over $1100 accrued in unapplied payments.
In response to them trying to drop my son's care, my husband will be forced to go work somewhere else because his employer's insurance only covers the clinic that is threatening to terminate my disabled son's medical care.
Medicaid and disabled children are not to be balance billed from my understanding.
My disabled son should not be discriminated against or punished by inability to receive medical care because his parents cannot afford to pay. He is covered by insurance and Medicaid coverages, which have been paying almost all of his bills. We are forced to choose between feeding him and getting him medical care.
Sometimes he is denied medical care due to inability to pay.
If my son wasn't disabled by the Prevea doctor, we wouldn't have to bring him in for so much care in the first place.
We qualify to file a medical injury lawsuit with potential to win millions against the doctor who injured him at birth. This is the only choice that the clinic is leaving us due to their stubbornness in denying my disabled infant care.Desired Settlement: see above
