Home Savings is absolutely terrible as a bank. Not only is their customer service terrible, they are very strict and have no sense of compassion and will never admit fault to anything. Accidentally go into the negative because their app doesn't update automatically like every other bank? Now you're getting hit with daily overdraft fees. Did you opt out of the overdraft program to assure that you account can't go into the negative? Even if they mess up and approve a withdrawal, whether it be fraud or not, they will tell you "it isn't our fault, pay the overdraft fees". Not to mention their works in the local area (Youngstown and Liberty) pay no attention. I was on two accounts, one personal and the other for my fraternity, and on multiple occasions they would deposit into the wrong account even when given a card with account and routing number. I have has accounts with other banks and I must say Home Savings is a sad comparison. Please if you are considering using them as a bank please try any other bank and I promise you will not regret it. I wouldn't continue using their services if they paid me to.
I own my home with another person and was looking to refinance in order to take his name off the loan. I knew going in it was going to be a long shot. Home Savings encouraged me the whole way, telling me I had nothing to worry about and even told me I had loan approval at one point. I was ecstatic thinking I would be able to stay in my home. Then weeks went by where I heard nothing from them... I kept calling and every time I'd call I'd get the same "we're still working on your loan details, you have nothing to worry about." Then all of a sudden they tell me the loan won't go through. They gave the excuse that they just received my tax docs from the IRS that had my income from the year before, however I had sent them the transcripts 2 months before!!! When I asked why no one looked at the transcript I sent and realized it would be a problem two months earlier I never received an answer. They in fact stopped responding to my emails all together. I wasted 2 months working with Home Savings and $400 for their application fee. So, my advice is save yourself the time and money of using Home Savings because it doesn't seem like their employees are well trained and know what they are doing.
