Complaint I had issues with the vehicle not shifting gears and jerking after oil service. Management was defensive and dismissive. The full service oil change occurred around 4 pm on 4/7/16. The next day I had issues with my 1992 [redacted] vehicle not shifting gears and jerking while driving on the interstate. This is also the second time that I have had my car serviced here and had issues immediately following the service. I came back the next day after calling ahead and speaking with [redacted] and had the tech Mr. [redacted], that serviced it Check the car and test drive it. The tech told the front associate that everything was fine. I got no further than a half mile only to have the same jerking issue. I returned to the store and asked that the tech, Mr. [redacted], drive it with me. He knew that the car was not shifting gears as he drove it with me in the car. As I returned with the tech, the associate pretty much told me there was nothing they could do and if I was to bring it in the morning, Saturday, that there would be a long wait for a lead tech to look at my car. I did return on Saturday and the manager, [redacted] was combative, and refusing to even address the issue. I'm a highly suspicious that the tech mixed oil in with transmission fluid, which would cause jerking. The manger, [redacted] was very offensive and guarded and refused to even drain the oil or transmission fluid. He basically blamed it on the age of the car eventhough this problem happened after my car was serviced here. I'm sorry that this location does not take pride in there work especially in regards to being professional. Desired SettlementAll I wanted was for the lead tech to drain the transmission fluid and the oil because my car did not have this issue prior to the service. I saw the transmission fluid and it did appear to look more like oil. Business Response We do sympathize with the customer but a full service oil change service will not cause transmission troubles. Given the age and mileage on the vehicle in question, it is not a good idea to have the transmission fluid changed as it can cause more harm than good. We are sorry the customer is having problems with their transmission but at this point, there is nothing that we can do.

Car key was not returned to owner after decline of serviceOn August 5th, after we had an issue with work completed on our car, we returned the car to the shop to have it looked at. According to the shop, a separate issue arrived and would require additional work to be fixed. We declined this work and asked that the key be placed in the car and the car locked. I went that same day to pick up the car. The car was unlocked but I drove away, using my set of keys. I checked for the spare key as soon as I arrived at my destination, and it was not in the car. We called the shop to tell them of our concern and they asked my husband to double check. After he did, we called back and informed them that the key could still not be located. We have had additional issues with this shop, but consider them a loss at this point, as we have already taken the vehicle elsewhere to be serviced. When calling today, on August 12, the store manager has told us that he can no longer help us because we placed an online complaint about the store. This goes directly against policies they have online, but I reached out to corporate via email anyway. Corporate informed me by email that they cannot locate or replace the key and that there is nothing they can do to help us. This is frightening to me because the store has my home and work address on file. Any one of their employees could have my car key. We have triple and quadruple checked the car, and also had my father and a family friend check the car for it as well.Desired SettlementIdeally, I would like the store to locate my key and return it to me. If the key cannot be located, it needs to be replaced, as it is their fault I no longer have a spare key to my car.Business Response We do apologize and sympathize with the customer but per their request, we parked the car the outside of our service center and left the keys in it. They picked up the car after hours. The key is not in our possession. We had our district manager come in and look every where for the key and it could not be found. Because the customer asked us to leave the keys in the car and picked up the car after hours, we are not responsible for anything that happened to the car or anything it after we put it in a parking spot.Consumer Response Thank you.Final Business Response After speaking with the customer again and our district manager, we will be replacing the key at our expense. We will be contacting the customer shortly to make the arrangements.

Manager gave wrong information which caused me to pay for something I didn't need.On 8/18/16 I went to Precision Tune to get a state inspection on my car the manager told me that it would be almost 1000$ to fix but he said I would have no problem getting a waiver if I spent at least 200$ dollars on the repairs, I asked if he was sure and he said " I have done this many times yes I'm sure". So I get the repairs and I was suppose to get 2 failed inspections which all came out to 236.55. After I live I go the waiver office and they tell me he only gave me one failed inspection paper, so I go back. I get another one and go back to the waiver place and they tell me that I failed to parts of a section I cannot fail in order to get the waiver. Now Im confused because the only reason I paid 236.55 was because I could get the waiver. So I go back to the manager at precision tune, I tell him what the officer at the waiver place informed me. He goes off and talks to the technician who inspected my car comes back and tells me " oh well they changed in April now you have pay 305.00 to get what you need fixed for the waiver" I reply " So the 236.55 wont give me the waiver" he says "no". No apology for misinforming me or any acknowledgment that I just waisted money. Nor did he offer to put the money already paid to the new services. After I emailed in a complaint he called asked me how he told me " there was a miscommunication with him and his technician" that's why I paid for something I didn't need and did take full responsibility for the problem. When he asked how he could resolve the issue I told him I wanted my money back because none of the money went towards what they were suppose to and I still had to get my car fixed somewhere else. He said he would make a phone call and get back to me, that was almost 2 weeks ago.Desired Settlementfull refundBusiness Response This customer had several issues with her vehicle that prevented her from passing the NC auto inspection. Problem 1 was her check engine light. That constitutes and automatic failure for the inspection. Problem 2 was a faulty control arm. Yes the customer spent the required $200 for the emissions waiver but the vehicle must also pass the safety portion of the inspection. If it does not, NCDMV will not issue the waiver. The DMV emissions waiver requirements can be found here. http://www.ncleg.net/EnactedLegislation/Statutes/HTML/BySection/Chapter 20/GS 20-183.5.htmlWe are sorry but at this time, we can not issue any refund. We did offer to sell the [redacted] the control arm at our cost and install it at no charge. It seems the customer has declined and took her vehicle elsewhere to have it repaired. There is nothing further that we can offer.Consumer Response What's not addressed in this statement is how the manager took fault for the what happened and still expects me to pay for his " miscommunication " . Final Business Response We are sorry but our original stands. At this time, there is nothing further that we can do. If the customer is still willing to accept our offer of buying the part and we install it at no charge, we will be willing to honor that.

My complaint is the business practices and scam the business committed regarding putting an engine in a car that the could not be paid for to keep carThe car was taken to Precision Tune Auto Care, Store 59-06 on July 6, 2016 around 1:00 p.m. with engine issues, he signed the form which is normal practice when you bring your car in for work or to find out what is wrong with the vehicle. He put a deposit of $50.00, then on July 8, 2016 he applied for a credit with Precision Tune Auto and he was declined. On July 11, 2016 they proceeded to put engine in car with no means of getting paid for services. I don't know when they ordered the engine from [redacted] Auto parts, number XXX-XXX-XXXX. July 27, when we returned to pick up car and have it towed they had completed the work on the car. I have a copy of the work order, no invoice or work order that authorizes Precision Tune Auto Care to perform the engine work was signed by [redacted]. I informed them they need to remove the engine from the car and they claim it would take 5 or more days to remove the engine; they are trying to hold on to the car.Desired SettlementI would like for Precision Tune Auto to remove the engine from the car at no cost and return the vehicle; that was not authorized to be put in nor could it be paid for because the customer did not have the money and did not qualify for their credit program to pay for the work but they proceeded with the work anyway.Business Response We do sympathize with the customer but who ever brought the vehicle in to our company was provided with an estimate of repair after our initial diagnosis was done. That estimate for repair was authorized and signed by the customer. We can provide an copy of the signed estimate if needs be. Even if we remove the engine from the vehicle, because it was authorized for replacement, we will still need to charge the appropriate labor fees. As far as the credit application denial, we are not a credit company. We do business with a financial institution who handles our [redacted] credit cards. They are completely separate entity. We have no control over who gets approved and denied for credit.Consumer Response Please review the document that was provided for your review which was not a document that authorized the company to install the engine which would have been a separate document that authorized the work. I still want the engine removed from the vehicle at no expense to us. You will also see that they do utilize a credit application which is also on the document provided at the beginning of the claim. They are lying and doing unlawful business. They did not have authorization to put the engine in the car.Final Business Response We are sorry. The document the customer provided to the Revdex.com is an estimate for repair complete with the engine replacement parts and labor. That is legal binding document that the customer signed giving us written permission to do the work. The customer even gave us a $50 deposit to start the work. We are sorry but there is nothing more we can do. We were in fact authorized to replace the engine. The $3106.08 bill for the repair still stands. Also, starting on July 27, 2016 for everyday the car is not picked up we will be charging a $50 per day storage fee at permitted by the state of North Carolina. If you would like to come pick up and pay for the car by the close of Business Saturday 7-30-16, we will gladly waive the storage fees.

In January of this year I went to the Precision Tune at 119 Small Pine Drive to get a tune up, and I was charged $163 for the purchase and installation of new spark plugs. In late March of this year my car had some lights come on the instrument console so I took the car to the Toyota dealership where I bought it. The Toyota Service Representative said that my plugs were fouled and that I needed a tune-up to correct the problem. I explained to him that I had gotten a tune-up back in January so there must be some mistake. The service representative informed me that those were the spark plugs and wires that came on the car when I bought it from them, that my plugs were old and deteriorated and could not have been changed recently. I went back to the Precision Tune Center that I visited (I brought the documentation from the Toyota service garage,) I explained the situation to them and asked for a refund. I was given the phone number of the main office in Cary and was told I would have to speak to them about this problem. I have since placed 5 phone calls (over the past 4 days) to the main office in Cary. Every time I call I get the voicemail system, never a person. I have left 5 voicemails with my name and my number, explaining the situation and asking them to call me. I have yet to receive a phone call from the Precision Tune Cary office.Desired SettlementWhat I would like is to have the money I paid for the service - that I did not get - refunded to me.Business Response After our DM has investigated the issue, she has agreed that we need to issue a refund to the customer in the amount of $162.96. This refund has now been processed and will be mailed this up coming Friday. it's our hopes this resolution meets with the customer's approval.Consumer Response After contacting Precision Tune's corporate office and getting a phone call from them (informing me that they were going to get the Cary office to return my calls) someone from the Cary office called me.She apologized for not seeing my email sooner (the "email" was a feedback form I'd filled out on the corporate website - no mention of my 5 un-returned calls.) She asked if I had any documentation, I sent her scans I had made of all the paperwork from Precision Tune and from the dealership. She said she would call me back the next day, and she did. She said Precision Tune would reimburse me for the parts and labor. They only cut checks on Fridays, so it will be sometime next week before I get the check. I am waiting to see if I get it before I officially say I'm satisfied and close my complaint.Final Consumer Response

The company kept our car for over 48 hours, gave us a filthy loaner care, and then forgot to put the grill back on the car once returned. We took our car to Precision Auto Tune originally on July 21 to have the AC repaired. After waiting for 3 hours they asked us to bring the car back July 22. We returned that Friday and waited as they worked on the car for 6 hours at which point I had to leave to go to work. They said they would give me a loaner car to use until Saturday July 23. The car was filthy, had not been cleaned, and full of other people's belongings. They told us that they problem was that they did not have the right part and had to get one from another store. Then the store sent them the wrong part twice at which point they had to order one from New York to the shipped to Greensboro, NC then driven to Greenville. They ended up having to keep the car until Monday July 25 at which point I picked up the car and returned the "loaner car." The simple fix on the AC unit cost $370 despite the fact that they said they would give us a big discount since everything took so long. The total discount they gave us was around $45 despite. Once I got home I realized that our car did not have a grill on the front. I called the shop and they told me that they forgot to put the grill back on the car. I ended up having to return to the shop in order for them to put the grill back on the car. The manager was not apologetic and incredibly difficult to work with. In total Precision Tune Auto Care had the car for almost 96 hours for a simple fix and did not seem that concerned for the disaster that they had created.Desired SettlementAt this point, I am not expecting anything from the store because they were so incompetent in the first place but I would like other people to be aware of how terrible they are. If at all possible, some billing adjustment would be great but at this point I just wanted the Revdex.com to know about this situation and for the company's rating to be adjusted accordingly. Business Response Hello [redacted], thanks for letting us know about what is going on and your experience at our Greenville, NC location. We are very sorry to hear about what happened. I have shared your comments with our district manager who wants to discuss everything with you. He tried calling the phone number we have on file but was unable to reach anyone. I am not sure if we have an up to date number or not but if you wouldn't mind, please give me a call at XXX-XXX-XXXX or XXX-XXX-XXXX. The district manager and I would love to speak with you on this and see if we can all work together in find a resolution that you would find acceptable. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Hope you have a wonderful day!

I been to precision tune 2 sundays in the morning to get my smog on my vehicle they have signs saying smog all out side the shop but there no technician to do smog but yet there promoting that they do smogs they lie and I know it aginst the law to have smog signs but no technician there

Review: HORRIBLE!! HORRIBLE!! HORRIBLE!!

Beware of this scam of a business! I am shocked to see the doors still open considering the terrible ratings this place is receiving. I took my 2013 Jetta TDI in for a full synthetic oil change. The attendent "[redacted]" was helpful in explaining the differences in cost for synthetic vs. standard oil changes and I had no problem paying the extra charges for what I believed to be good service.

Oil change completed on Thursday afternoon. Friday morning wife and I drive up for a weekend to Orange County. Car stays parked for 2 days in hotel parking lot. Driving back down to San Diego my oil pressure light sensor comes on blaring to stop driving the car immediately. Pull over, pop the hood to find smoke and heat coming from the engine. Check the dipstick, bone dry! No oil in the engine!

Called to speak to manager and was told it would be my responsibility to have car towed down to San Diego. Car was towed down to SD at VW Dealer to have full inspection completed. Low and behold the car has no oil and had been leaning since the tech at Precision Auto Tune forgot to tighten the oil filter housing. I paid another $125 for a new oil change.

I've tried multiple times to speak with Moe and or the owner Clarence with no response from either party. Precision Auto Tune is not taking responsibility and denying any wrong doing on there part.Desired Settlement: I am demanding a full refund for my money paid to this establishment plus being reimbursed for the money $85.95 I was forced to pay to have a new oil change completed at the VW Dealership.

Review: I went into Precision tune auto care 3 months ago just to get a simple oil change because the oil light was on. Within 5min of leaving the shop my car cut off and when I got it towed to my personal mechanic, I was told that there was no oil in the car and that my engine had blew.Desired Settlement: I would like a settlement to get a new engine put in my car as well as emotional distress. I have a full time job and two kids and it's been very hard getting to and from work, and taking my kids to school, daycare and to Dr. appointments.
