I received a quote to install a hardscape paver patio on 4/22/2019. With an expectation that it would take 30 to 45 days to complete do to a wet spring. The quote came in at $850 with us supplying the materials. I was assured that they had actually came to the property and viewed the site were the patio was to be installed, we had marked it withstakes and roped off. A few days before finally starting the project I was met at the site and was told they would not be able to use the edging we had purchased but instead would need to use block to build a border / wall. I was told that they could use some block that was already on site that was planned for another project. After we returned from vacation to the patio being completed the results were horrific. I contacted PLC and they came out and agreed that the completed work was totally unacceptable. So at this point they decided the only way to correct it was to tear it completely out and start over. They also said we need to use a totally different type of manufactured block to build up the wall that the original type of block that they said would work was incorrect. After bringing in a new lead man who apparently is the one who actually specializes in doing hard paver patio work it was completely redone. I will say the work this time is very well done the only bad part is there is a lot is chips in the bricks from having to be removed and chipping of the sealer sand from the first failed install. There is so much that need to be said there is no way to go into all of the details here with the limits that are allowed. So fast forward to the end of September, yes approximately 6 months later we receive an invoice with the total of $3,842.37. Being asked to pay for product that was purchased to replace the product that was already on site but couldn't be used after they had to start over, rental of equipment and block that can not be used. I am also out the original stone I purchased for the other project. Have asked to meet in person to go over
This response is in reference to the aforementioned case involving a complaint filed by Steven Z of Terre Haute Indiana.
We certainly acknowledge and understand the concern and frustration that Mr. Z has. This job started out in a difficult way. Initially the job was completed with materials supplied by Mr. Z. Upon completion Mr. Z was concerned with the quality of the job. Upon our inspection in response it was determined that Mr. Z had valid concerns. The quality of the job was not up to Precision Lawn Care standards and the quality of the material was insufficient to adequately achieve the desired result. We dismantled the existing wall and started over, all with no charge to Mr. Z. With the rebuild it was decided, with Mr. Z’s input, that the best way to complete the project was to add a retaining wall and to use new manufactured block. With the addition of the retaining wall, the patio could be constructed properly on a built up flat surface. In addition, a set of steps were added to the project. The retaining wall and the steps were both additions to the original scope of work.
Our desire is to resolve this concern amicably with Mr. Z. We are willing to charge for the new manufactured block, we are willing to come back and remove the extra j block from Lowes and are willing to leave him the amount of j block he needs to complete a project he is wanting to do along an existing ditch. We are willing to omit the charge of the rental equipment. There is a difference in labor due to the change of the scope of work, but, we are willing to negotiate the amount in good faith to resolve this complaint.
Thank you
