Review: My husband, [redacted], ordered at my request a patent treatise from PLI. PLI's online terms did not clearly indicate that this is a subscription service, and once a new edition of the treatise becomes available it will be automatically sent to us with a charge.

Today, we received the unordered "2nd edition" of the patent treatise, with a charge for a total of $393.57. Two years ago, we had similar issues with PLI, with a licensing treatise. It took us over a year to resolve the previous issues, and now it is happening again.

PLI is deliberately slow to take their unordered goods back, then keeps sending them again, claiming that the "subscription" was never cancelled. It is a major hassle to get them to stop.Desired Settlement: First, PLI needs to be clear and upfront about their "subscriptions". If you are ordering a book, you do not assume that you are also purchasing all future editions of the book, for which you will be charged separately in the future.

In this particular case, PLI needs to send a free return label and promptly and permanently update their records to remove this unauthorized "subscription" service.

Review: Although the US Postal Service entered Prohibitory Order number [redacted] against PLI on December **, 2007 directing it to stop sending me advertising mail, PLI continues to pepper my mailbox with advertising mail.Desired Settlement: Stop sending me mail.
