On or about June 12th I took my motorcycle to Topeka Powersports for repair. I had done a Top End rebuild on it and was struggling with oil seal leaks and a starting issue. When they completed their first inspection, they had told me that the fuel pump was non performing within limits and they would replace the gaskets on the oil leaks. Upon waiting for nearly 3 and a half weeks without a call, I finally went up there to check on the bike. The said the leak was most likely a cracked head (internal). Since they can not prove this without taking the head off and charging more I asked them for a better way to fix it. Their judgement was for me to go get a used head online and do the entire service all over again. During my time doing the repairs, I inspected the head to the best of my ability and had professional side help with the build. The leak that I found was not as severe as the one that they described to me when I had to go up to the shop to find out why my bike was still there. It is in my opinion that they have either damaged a part and are hiding it from me or they want me to pay them more to fix my motorcycle. If I would have known about this issue I would NOT have spent the significant amount that I did on this repair.

This unit was first brought in for service 2/6/2020 with a fault code, we ran diagnostics and found 2 faults of 23 and 32 one of the codes was taken care of by simply unhooking as aftermarket powercommander that was causing the code. The second code was repaired by replacing a damaged cam sensor. Then 3/4/2020 the unit was brought in for chain installation, during the repair we found the customer had installed the rear brake wrong and correctly installed it. The unit was brought in 7/2/2020 for repairs customer stated oil leaks and fuel injector problems. During inspection we found the injectors were not the problem it was the fuel pump and replaced and the unit then ran correctly. The oil leak is coming from a journal that can only be an internal leak. We have never had the head off of this machine!!!
The bottom line is this. The customer in an attempt to save money tries repairing the unit himself, gets in over his head and then brings the unit to us for repair. He rebuilt the motor himself, he's the only one who has taken the motor apart, all we have done is external repairs, valve cover gskt, fuel pump, unhook the power commander, reinstalled the fuel injectors he'd removed, installed new cam sensor, nothing internal. We have corrected several mistakes the customer made in his attempt to repair the unit himself. The customer had asked what could cause an internal crack in the head, and I told him extreme overheating would be the most likely cause and he stated to me that the unit had gotten real hot previously before the engine rebuild he performed himself. I would guess the head had been cracked at that time and since we've never performed any repair that could have damaged the head in any way we are not responsible for any repair.
