Review: At the time I purchased my hardwood floor from the store owner [redacted], I inquired as to whether I should purchase a moisture barrier. [redacted] was adamant that it was not necessary. I relied on his judgment as a flooring professional, and he portrayed himself as an expert in this area with decades of experience. He relayed his reputation was very important to him because of his ties to his community, and more specifically, his church. I was dismayed when moisture began coming through my concrete slab, destroying my beautiful hardwood floor. I have had my floor tested for any leaks, pipe breakage, etc. Based on assessments from plumbers and contractors, the moisture coming through my floor is simply from naturally occurring changes in the environment. In consulting with contractors and other flooring professionals, ALL of them have stated emphatically that a moisture barrier is absolutely necessary for this very reason. Moisture conditions can change in a house due to natural reasons and this is exactly why moisture barriers should be put in place prior to laying a hardwood floor on a concrete slab on the ground level. When I relayed the problems I was having with [redacted] he denied that he should've put a barrier in place and has never taken responsibility for this problem. I am now out thousands of dollars, I have had to cut out a hole in the flooring right in the middle of my living room because I cannot just let damp wood rot in my living room. At the time I purchased the floor [redacted] also stated he was purchasing wood glue with a moisture barrier. When I contacted the third party distributor, they told me [redacted] never placed any such order. [redacted] made a professional error in judgment and should take responsibility to his cus[redacted]er. This floor was supposed to be a very expensive investment in the beauty of our home, and now it is nothing but a huge loss of hard-earned money.Desired Settlement: I would like to be refunded the dollar amount it will cost to replace the entire floor.
r with Hartco to see what was purchased.

Response:
I sold and installed Hartco Hardwood flooring to customer on July
19, 2007 (see invoice attached). At the time of installation, a Tamaex meter test was performed
for moisture, the slab passed the test with less than 3% moisture. The floor was installed with
Hartco #57 adhesive, 3.5 gallons of moisture blocking adhesive urethane glue. (see order form
attached).
What I don't understand is how the customer could directly
contact my distributor without my c
Shortly after the installation the customer called saying she had a leak in her closet. and was
going to replace the wood in her closet and entryway with ceramic. I told her at that time that
there was a chance the water leak may have run into the other rooms, she did not seem concerned about that.
That was the last time I have heard from her. If she would have called me when this first happened
I would have sent an inspector out to find the problem. She ''consulted with contractors and
flooring professionals" rather than contact me.
Because she gave us no opportunity to assess, she rather "cut out a hole in the flooring", this
causes the warranty to be null & void.
Respectfully,
