I am rejecting this response because: the small sign at the desk was not facing the direction where people are conducting business. The desk clerk did not say they would hold double the cost of the room, and both women were exceptionally rude when I addressed the situation. One of the charges of $195.50 to pay for the room has passed through my account, and the other charge of $195.50 is still showing that it is pending and is not accessible to me. Now I have had to get a payday loan to survive through the week. I am not financially situated to have this happen to me, and the hotel did not do enough to inform me ahead of time so I could have chosen to pay in a different manner. Additionally, the card is a credit card, and not just a bank card, so they could have chosen to complete the transaction as a charge and avoided the whole double charge issue, and did not. It should be a practice to run credit cards as credits instead of debits if they are going to process debits in this way.As a result of this injustice, I was unable to pay my son's apartment deposit. I now have to take off from work and lose a full day's wage of $335 to go back to San Marcos to complete the tasks I went there to do and could not because they tied up my funds. Although I know I will get the money back, the financial distress it has caused in unfathomable. This hotel needs to ensure that they fully explain verbally that if using a Visa debit the person will be double charged. I need my money right now. Not in 5-7 days. In addition, I called Wyndam, and they said the charge was at the discretion of the hotel. Any other hotel I have been to has released the money at checkout. This hotel did not. Additionally, they did NOT have to hold the entire cost of the room for incidentals. It is unreasonable to charge a persona a whole $391 for a $195.50 room for one night, and then not give the over charge back immediately. They owe me $195.50, and I want it back now. Honestly, they owe me a lot more as a result of the causal chain of problems this has caused.
