Point Loma Scooters Reviews (25)

Review: After just a few days and spending $1300 on a scooter, it began to have several problems. I have called [redacted] 20x - 30x to have him fix my scooter for all the problems and I get one excuse after another. I have no odometer or speedometer reading since the very beginning, the mirrors are almost falling off and the brakes barely work and are extremely loud. The exhaust cover has broken and now rattles extremely loud. I call point loma scooters to repair my scooter and I barely get a response or the owner will just hang up on me. I requested a refund or an exchange for a different scooter and was rudely told no. This is a poorly run business with over 50 horrible reviews on several websites about [redacted] who owns this point loma scooter business.Desired Settlement: I want point loma to replace my scooter or offer me a full refund.

I haven't resolved anything with point loma scooters. I have tried many times to get my brand new scooter either fixed completely or replace it with a new one because it has had many issues one after the other. Nothing has been resolved!!!!

Can you please update me on my complaint with point loma scooters please. I have not heard anything in several months from the Revdex.com or from [redacted] who is the owner of point loma scooters. Thank you very much and I hope to hear from you soon.[redacted]

Review: [redacted] at Point Loma Scooters, sold us a used 2012 scooter, claiming it was a new 2014 scooter. It has broken, stopped working and he neither answers the phone or is available for repair work or questions. We bought the scooter in April of 2014 and we still have not received the registration or license.Desired Settlement: We'd like him to discontinue as a sales dealership. He is dishonest about his products and doesn't deliver to their completion.

Review: I purchased a scooter from Point Loma Scooters back in June of 2014. I was told the deal was only good if I was to pay cash, that he would take care of the registration and that it would come with a one year warranty.

My first problem came when 6 months went by and I realized I still had not received my license plate in the mail as promised. It was mainly brought to my attention because my friend bought a scooter on the same day and his was towed off of the street due to not having a valid registration, which ended up costing him over $700 to retrieve back out of impound. That is almost half the price of the scooter! After many, many, many attempts to call and stop by Point Loma Scooter’s with no luck- I proceeded to write a poor [redacted] review, which seemed to have caught his attention. I finally received my license plate in the mail, 8 months later! That is almost one full year later! His lies and excuses were comical. He tried to tell me the reason that my scooter plate was taking so long was because what he sold me was actually a 2014 model. When I bought it he told me it was a 2013 model. And now, when I look inside the brochure he sent me home with, the booklet states the scooter is a 2009 model! What did I really buy?

My second problem came when my scooter would no longer run after 600 miles. Of course I called [redacted] because part of the draw in me purchasing the scooter was the one year warranty.

Naturally I called Point Loma Scooters to have him fix the scooter as promised. After weeks of failed attempts to get in touch with him he finally offers to come pick the scooter up at my house. Which I thought was an attempt at some five star customer serviceHe had asked me to leave the key on the front tire and told me he would be there during the day to pick it up (of course he never showed up, and the key sat on the tire all night, just waiting for someone to come steal). Again, after weeks of failed phone calls he came, picked it up, “fixed it” and dropped it back off. According to him he “adjusted the valves, cleaned the carburetor, changed the oil and checked the vacuum lines”. I have proof of this in a text message from [redacted]. Of course no paper receipt, or proof that I paid him $100 in cash for my “first service” (other than the text exchange). Of course my scooter would not start the next day, so I had it towed over to a different local repair shop who had left a note on my receipt stating that the valves were in fact loose and that he had to fine tune the carburetor. Which I am assuming that either [redacted] has no clue how to fix a scooter, or that he basically picked up the scooter, took my money from me, and dropped it back off in the same condition it was in when he picked it up. I have since attempted to call and collect my $100 back from [redacted]- but of course I have not received a call back, and when I stopped by his store, there was a Yoga studio in it’s place.

I attempted to call “[redacted]” which is the company located in the back of the “operating manual” that was guaranteeing the “warranty” of the scooter. Which if you look closely is taped into the back of the owner manual (which is extremely sketchy). When I made the phone call to “[redacted]” another business picked up and said they had gone out of business back in 2008! So basically Point Loma Scooter’s knowingly sold me a fake warranty!

Here are the links to the Revdex.com and [redacted] reviews that I have since found while doing research on this guy. One concerning thing that I found while doing my research is that- it seems the Revdex.com has shut him down before, but he is still able to obtain a different EIN number/name and resume operations! Basically he has found a loop whole to continue scamming and ripping people off ! Almost every [redacted]/Revdex.com review says the same thing too!

I went by to speak with him today, and noticed they were building a yoga studio inside of his old shop, so he no longer has a business front (or at least it’s not the same location) which would make sense as to why he insisted on coming to pick up my scooter from my house (silly me, I thought he was doing it for good customer service).

I just don’t understand how this man is able to get away with this. He is straight up deceiving, and scamming the general public. Isn’t this considered fraud? What has to happen before he gets shut down once and for all?

I would like to receive a full $1,500 refund for the scooter and the $100 he took from the false claim that he completed a service on it? I don’t want to deal with him, his lies, or his headaches anymore. I just want my money back so that I can purchase another form of transportation. I also do not feel I should have to return the scooter, at least until I find something else to get me around town. Most importantly I want to get out of this mess before it causes more problems in my life.

[redacted]Desired Settlement: I would like a full refund of $1500 plus the $100 that he took from me when he claimed he did the first service. I would also like to keep the scooter for what has already been a complete headache because of this guy. At least until I can find another form of reliable transportation, which will only be possible following the refund of $1600.

Review: On May 9, 2013 I purchased a "2012" Gensen 150cc motorized scooter from Point Loma Scooters. The Price of the scooter was $995, and with other charges INCLUDING the registration fee, it came out to be a total of $1,350. It also came with a free half helmet and a free trunk. At that time [redacted] had a written receipt/invoice that showed my address, phone number, drivers license number, and all the information about the scooter. Near the bottom it has both his, and my signatures. So at that moment that became a signed contract between him and I, and in that contract he had some obligations. First was to order the scooter and set it up for me. Second was to register it, which I paid for. I asked him a few times that day about the registration process. He told me not to worry, it's a simple thing. Assuring me I would receive my plates, and registration in the mail no more than 90 days, and for now he would put a "temp" plate on. This temp plate was a piece of paper taped to the back. So a week went by and the scooter finally came in and I went to pick it up. As soon as I got it home I called [redacted] to insure it. This is were problems started to occur. When the agent had me read her the VIN number, she kept telling me it was an invalid number. I read the VIN number to her probably about 11 times, and from the temp plate, to the stamp on the frame, and also on the plaque its printed on. Each time she told me nothing was coming up and she wasn't able to find the bike. We also found out while I was on the phone with her it was made in 2011 not 2012. Her and I was on the phone with her for probably 45 minutes or more. Finally she told me she would go ahead and insure me but I would have to show my local agent the proof of registration and the title. I thought no problem, should be in a couple weeks or so.

When I was looking over the bike at home I wasn't very pleased. It was very cheaply made, and he didn't really set it up well. The plastic was still left on all the lights, some screws were not fully fastened. Little things like that. I then proceeded to look under the trunk to see how its on there, and what I saw was very disappointing. The bottom of the trunk looked like it had been dragged along the road a mile. It was all scratched up. I was going to take it back and get a new one, until I accidently put a scratch on the side of it.

In the meantime, the odometer and the speedometer broke on the scooter shortly after I got it. I contacted [redacted] and mostly got his machine. He left a voice mail on my phone and told me to bring it in and he would fix it. So I called back, got the machine, and told him I was going to bring it in tomorrow. He then called back and said no, you have to make an appointment first, and the only time you can com in on Friday. So comes Friday, I bring it in and he tells me it will be about a half hour. He ends up replacing it with a used part instead of ordering a new one, and this scooter is under warranty.

Shortly after this I called to ask when I would be receiving the plate for the bike because the temp plate is fading away. He told me again, no more than 90 days.

About two months went by when I received an email from my [redacted] agent office, on 7/24/13, saying that they are still missing the registration and I need to send it to them. I responded back saying I haven't received anything and will not be able to show them. She then responded back and asked if I had the sales contract I could provide her with for now, and I told her the only thing I have is the invoice, so I sent that to her and haven't heard back.

That same day, 7/24/13, I called Point Loma Scooters, got the machine of course, and told him about this. I have been going back and forth with my insurance because of the registration. He then called back while I was at work and told me to send him an email with the VIN number, my name, and address and he would get that processed and double check his records. So I sent him the email the same day, and I also asked him why I was sending him (the dealer) this information, shouldn't he have it all? I received no response.

Yesterday, on 7/31/13, I got a letting in the mail from [redacted]. It is a PLEASE ACT IMMEDIATELY letter, It states that the State of California is unable to verify that I have auto insurance, which could result in severe penalties. It then goes on to say the California DMV has notified them that the VIN listed on my insurance policy does not match any vehicle currently registered with the State of California. If not corrected, this could result in suspension of my vehicle.

Since I have received this, [redacted] at Point Loma Scooters has obviously not held up his end of this deal. We had a signed contract, stating he would do the registration for me. That's what I paid for! Now he is left with $1,350 and I'm left with an unregistered, undetectable bike that has a completely faded temp plate. I can't even ride it because of him. I have tried contacting him many times and the issue has not been resolved. That is why I came to the Revdex.com.

I have also read other reviews on yelp and a lot of people have had problems with him. Some words that stood out to me were, crook, con artist, shady, and horrible business man. Point Loma Scooters is not very professional and some action needs to be taken.Desired Settlement: I would like him to finish the job and refund me the registration fee in cash. The registration fee came to be a total of $86.

Response:

The registration was processed two weeks ago and within the 90 day as required by dmv code.

Review: I bought a brand new Scooter on april 14th. On july the motorcycle wasn't working anymore. Also, he never gave me any document for the motorcycle and the one year warranty that was promised. Now he's charging me do fix it and doesn't return my calls. He has my motorcycle for a week now, and even though he promised that it would be done in 2 to 3 days.Desired Settlement: I want a new motorcycle with the proper documents and warranty.

Business

Response:

The scooter is being serviced and will be available shortly with all documents customer will be contact when scooter is ready.
