In Dec. 2018, a membership was started under my ex-grilfriend's Ms.. This membership was paid through our joint account ending in ***. This membership allowed for an extra person to go when Ms. visited the gym. Due to the irregularity of her visits, I stated my own membership in March of 2019. This membership was auto paid using my *** card tied to my personal checking account ending in ***. In April 2019, Ms. and I dissolved our relationship. Ms. moved out of state in August and had closed our joint account on August 2, 2019. She did not cancel her membership with the gym. Unknown and without my written authorization, on Aug. 23, 2019 I stated getting charged for Ms. membership. I did not discover these automatic deductions until Jan. 2020. Upon visiting planet fitness and talking one of the personal, it was inconclusive why I was being charged 2 different amounts. I was instructed to contact the club manager. On Jan. 7, 2020, I emailed ***, club manager at Planet Fitness to resolve this issue. She notified me that a *** account was being charged for this other membership up until Aug. 2019 then my *** card under my name was being charged starting in Aug. 2019. Mrs. offered to cancel the membership because it was under my name. On Jan. 8, 2020, I had told her that I did not authorize the account switch and to cancel the membership that I did not authorize to pay for. I also requested her manager's contacts. On Jan. 8, 2020, she informed me that they do need written authorization for anyone who is paying for someone else's membership account and that her membership would be cancelled. She also provided the email of her manager,
***. On Jan. 10, 2020, I emailed ***, about this multiply charges and that this was a violation of my personal information. On Jan. 13, 2020, he was reluctant to correspond via email and requested my phone number to discuss this matter further. On Jan. 13, 2020, I received his call at 3:50 PM. Mr. was unwilling to refund the 5 months of charges totaling $116.90, stating that I did not attempt to cancel the membership. I told Mr. that it was not my membership and that I suspect someone at planet fitness had used my information from my personal membership and applied it to Ms. membership without my authorization. I also stated that since it was not my membership I did not know the status of it nor could I have canceled it not knowing my name had been applied to it unwillingly. I also pointed to the fact that Ms. membership had not been used since April of 2019 and that I had my own membership.
Hello, We have records of *** and Ms. using the club together. I can provide check records if needed. Neither *** nor Miss updated their billing information. ***'s personal information was added to Ms. account when she signed up. Lastly, the account in question was created online on 12/23/2018 and was e-signed, which does not require us to update any billing information. I would attach copy of said agreement which clearly lists *** as the primary payment account, however this page does not have that option. I would be happy to get you a copy. There is no refund at this time as Ms. did not cancel her membership. Again, I can provide these documents if needed. Thank you

Ms. was the membership holder and was the name on the account. I was added as the guest to the membership, at no time did I add my personal information to Ms. account. My personal information was taken from my own membership that I created in March because Ms. would not attend the club when I wanted to. So I was not able to use her membership without her presents. Planet fitness took my personal information fraudulently from my membership and applied it to Ms. membership when Ms. closed the bank account that her membership was being paid from in August. Since August, my banking account had been charged without my written authorization until I discovered these fraudulent charges in December of 2019.

As you can see, both agreements are e-signed which means that they were signed by *** in his device. As you can see, *** has his account on both agreements. I called the week of January 15th to cancel my membership. They told me that as long as I cancelled before the 10th that there would be no further deductions from my checking account because I was month to month and not under a contract. I checked on January 15th and they deducted $42 on the first for an annual fee even though I told them I was cancelling. They never indicated that I would be charged an annual fee unless I cancelled by January 25th. I went in on February 8th and told them I wanted that refunded and they refused. I even had the name of the person I talked to last month. I spoke with the corporate office in New Hampshire and they said that it was an individually owned franchise and they couldn't help me. I spoke with the regional manager who refused to assist me and just kept refusing to refund the fee. the club manager asked me to sign a pinpad that she said was to cancel my membership, but I refused because that was not what the screen said. She signed in the member space - indicating that she was me.
Hello, I have attached the member agreement to this email for your review. The agreement states an annual membership fee will be billed to the member's account below on or around the 1st beginning on 02/012017 for $41.73 and will continue to be billed on or around the anniversary of that date each year thereafter until you cancel in accordance with this agreement. The member did not cancel in accordance with this agreement prior to the annual fee date. The annual fee was deducted after 02/01/2017, not January 15th as the member stated. I did not say the fee was charged on the 15th of January. I said that I called on or around the 15th of January and asked what the procedure was to cancel my membership. I was told that as long as I cancelled by 2/10 that there would be no further charges. I specifically asked if there were any other charges and was told by the employee that there were none. If I had been told that there would be other charges, I would have immediately gone to the club and cancelled my membership. The employee gave me incorrect information which caused additional charges.

Hello, In the first submission, the member stated that she checked her account on January 15th and saw the $42 deduction for the annual fee. Again, the annual fee wasn't drafted until February 1st. The member had a copy of her agreement to verify the billing dates. As aforementioned, there will be no refund for the annual fee at this time. Thank you

ON 10/11/17 My husband and I signed up for memberships at Planet Fitness. The employee was thorough and went over the " important parts" of their contract including their annual fee which she told us would come out right around 12/31/17. I put that reminder in my phone and took her word for it as she provided an actual date to me. why would I question that?
On 12/6/17. I checked my bank account online and found my account in arrears. Planet Fitness has taken out 2 payments of 42.00 and had cause my account to overdraft ( 2 $19.00 fees). I called immediately and unfortunately spoke with the manager *** who was extremely uninterested in my plight.I had to argue to keep him on the phone and to get contact information to contactupper management. Finally I was provided an email. ***. My email was answered by a *** who did NOT address any of my customer service issues or my cancellation demand and merely sent through email a copy of the agreement. I will admit that because the employee who signed us up " went over all of the "important details" including the date when the annual fee came out I did not read further into the contract as I maybe would have.
Hello, I have attached all correspondence and documentation for your review. This member was notified of the specifics of the billing when she signed up in the club. I have attached a copy of the agreement for your review. In the billing portion of the agreement it states that the annual fee will be assessed on 12/01/2017 and that annual fee is non-refundable. Miss *** initialed that she fully understood the billing procedure on the *** in club. These are common issues when members sign up online, however Miss *** was fully informed on all the details regarding the billing of the membership by the assistant manager on the date she signed up. As for the not addressing the cancellation, Miss ***'s account was cancelled on 12/08/2017. I have also attached the cancellation paperwork and confirmation email that was sent to her email she added to her account. I have added all correspondence, regarding this issue to this email. The cancellation information was definitely not received when this manager states as I had to call the corporate office just to confirm that the memberships were cancelled. . His employee who signed us up indicated that " most people do not read their contacts so let me highlight the most important parts". This was to both my husband and myself. She specifically stated that the fees would come out on or around 12/31/17 and that did not happen. THis is starting to appear as Bait and switch. The manager even states in his response to this complaint that this is " a common problem", wouldn't that show that this information is clearly NOT communicated in a consumer friendly way as it should be and an easy way for Planet Fitness Essex Jct VT to ROB their customers. I have been a member LESS THAN 8 weeks but a refund of our ANNUAL fee has been rejected and not even considered? HORRIBLE HORRIBLE BUSINESS PRACTICE. NO resolution has been offered and we are not accepting this resolution. Thisshould and will be investigated. I will see to it to take this as far and reach as many people as possible as this is ROBBERY!

Hello, At this time we will not be refunding any fees as prior stated. The customer's membership was billed to the terms of the membership she signed up for and the agreement states that annual fees are not refunded. I have also provided the Revdex.com with the pertinent documents, agreements and notifications to confirm the date of the membership cancellations. Best Regards

Horrible business practices as I was a member for LESS than 6 weeks. BEWARE OF THIS FRANCHISE. NOT REPUTABLE AT ALL. CHEAPER CLEARLY DOES NOT MEAN BETTER. I would rather pay" REGULAR" GYM PRICES AND get the customer service that is clearly lacking FROM Planet Fitness Essex Jct. Keep my money, you may need it the way you run your business.
