Planet Fitness insisted I send a letter certified mail to cancel my account. I did so on March 16 of this year. I cited health concerns for closing my account which by the way, is past the one year term of my contract.
This month they took the monthly billing fee out of my checking account for the amount of $23.87 and I just went online and they never canceled my account!
I will attach the letter I sent certified mail to them on March 16th. I expect to be refunded the $23.87 immediately and my account canceled as requested.

I had frozen my account in December 2019 until April 2020. I did not use Planet Fitness during any of those months and I have been charged a monthly fee anyway!! Planet Fitness can check their computer systems for verification that I did NOT use their facilities. I am also requesting to cancel my membership WITH FULL reimbursement of the amounts charged while account frozen from December 2019, January 2020, February 2020, March 2020, as well as April due to COVID-19. I'm demanding my refunds and cancelling my account moving forward from today's complaint and Do Not charge me again!!

I have been trying to cancel my membership since Spring of 2019. When I first tried to cancel I was advised that I was under contract, which I was not made aware of when I upgrade to the Black membership. I was told it was in my contract but this did not sit well with me as the person who upgrade the membership never told me about. I was then advised that there was a $50 or so cancellation fee and that I needed to pay it at the time of cancellation. I did not have $50 to give them at that point so the gentleman said I could not cancel. I tried to cancel again a few months later and was told the same thing. I do not have $50 to cancel on the spot and dont understand why I can not cancel and be billed for the fee. Instead Planet Fitness charges me $23 every month for a membership that I have only used 3-4 times. I have know gone into another calendar year and Planet Fitness wants to charge there annual $42 admin fee, even though I have requested to cancel.

I called Planet Fitness’ 800 number and the rep advised me that each club handles cancellation the way that they want to and that there was nothing she could do about. So here I am still with an active membership and pants of about $200 from monthly bills. Again I request cancellation last Spring.
