Refund of an unfair fee charged under a world pandemic was denied and the claim was totally ignored!
I Just want to address an issue that came up recently and I couldn't find help with the local manager or the regional manager (who, by the way, treated me very rude and un-empathic) I just want a refund of the $40 annual fee that was charged to me even though the gym was closed for three (3) months and therefore I don't think it is fair, that's it. It's not the 40 bucks, it's the fact that PF shouldn't be charging a fee under this circumstances of a world pandemic. I wasn't charged my monthly fee during those three month, which is logical and fine, but the annual fee? As it has been a normal, regular and functional year? I tried to address this issue with my local gym, no response; then the regional manager, which treated me as trash and then I tried the next level and found the CEO in LinkedIn and wrote him a private massage... nothing; I wrote the CPO the same email... nothing. I don't want to bother anyone but I need to be heard. As I said before, it's not the 40 bucks, it's the unfairness of the charge because this is NOT a normal year and therefore PF can't charge a maintenance fee of a place that was closed three months. I've paid that fee for the past two years with no problem because there were normal years but 2020? Really? Not fair. I definitely won't put my foot on that gym ever in my life and will speak all over about the truth of the greedy spirit that corporation is all about. A billion dollar business being grabby with a customer for $40... Unbelievable!

Desired Outcome

I want my $40 back and that's it, period!

Hello,

We attempted to notify all members with an email on file in advance if we would be deferring the billing of their annual fee. The annual fee is an account maintenance fee to provide our members with a Judgement Free fitness experience. Unlike monthly membership dues, the annual fee is not deferred during a membership freeze.

I don't accept the response from PF mainly because it explained a situation irrelevant to my claim. Let's be clear: I'm not arguing the objective of the maintenance fee (annual fee) my concern is that PF charges the fee in the middle of a pandemic. Why is that an issue? Because this is not a "freeze" I requested and "stopping the activities" was a government resolution; the "freeze" was pretty much a world order regarding safety and health related instruction; this wasn't a normal operational year, that's my issue with the charging. The "freeze", as PF claims as an excuse and base of they denial, was a government order and therefore they obeyed; so, how was maintenance in effect during three months that PF were closed? The gym was closed, no activity whatsoever, zero people in the facility; and more on that, as a matter of ethical matter how come the owners of a billion dollar company pretend to charge customers $40 under these dire circumstances? It would be very good before the public eye that any representative of PF responds with a deep, empathic and understanding answer and not a template of a letter. PF should show a little respect to the general public. I still demand the refund of my $40 unfairly charged because the charity I'm donating that money to really needs it.

I've been trying to get my membership cancelled and all my payment refunded since my membership in Feb 2020 never gone to the gym and I don't want it.
You never get a call back from a manager, a district manager or anyone. Even if you write to corporate or email them they do not reply. Finally, it is totally useless to go to any of their location to try to cancel or get your money refunded. They give you the biggest run a round, they are very informal. They intentionally do not reply.

Desired Outcome

I'm seeking REFUND for a membership that I don't want and I have not used. Been trying to get my refund since inception February 2020.

We apologize for the inconvenience you experienced when trying to cancel your membership. Unfortunately, we cannot refund charges from when the account was active. Cancels have to be to made in person at the home club or an official letter has to be mailed to that club. Currently, your account is showing cancelled and you will no longer be billed.

Planet Fitness Charged me for two months of service. I am not comfortable working out during the Covid 19 Pandemic.
Planet Fitness Charged me for two months of service. I am not comfortable working out during the Pandemic. I asked for a Refund and they would not give me one.. I asked them to freeze my account and they said I would have to come in.

Desired Outcome

I would like to be refunded for two months of service and I would like my account frozen until the Pandemic is over. I discussed the issue with Francis Ledsma on July 21, 2020 at 11am

Hello,

We apologize for the inconvenience you experienced when trying to cancel your membership and understand your concerns regarding the current pandemic. When our gyms were closed, we put a freeze on all memberships so our members would not be billed during that time. However, once we opened back up, we un-froze the accounts. You can cancel your account at your home gym or by mailing in an official letter.

I do not want to cancel I want to Pause my membership. If I can't get refunded, I will except a two month Credit. If I cannot get credited or refunded then I will cancel forever
