Planet fitness refuses to respond to my inquiries and phone calls regarding the cancellation of my membership.
Planet Fitness has been closed per the governor's action. I need to cancel my membership and in order to do so the company required this be done in person. Obviously, Covid 19 has prevented this as the facility has been closed. I am moving out of town (hours away) and I need to have my membership cancelled prior to moving due to the reasons listed above. I have repeatedly called and emailed the corporate office as well as this branch, in addition to submitting inquiries online via the website and have have not received a single response. This is a time sensitive issue and I believe Planet Fitness is using this practice during Covid 19 to prevent members from being able to cancel their memberships.
I want my membership cancelled effective immediately.
There have been multiple attempts to contact the member regarding their cancellation which is noted on their account. Their membership has been canceled and they have been emailed the documentation for their records. We understand the inconvenience of the pandemic and our locations being temporarily closed per the Governor's orders. The member would have been able to cancel any time in March before the 10th of the month without any charges which accrued on the 17th per normal billing cycles. Locations were shut down on the 18th of March and did not receive any charges during closure. Also per the signed agreement the member could have sent a certified letter (which is the other option of cancellation) instead of coming to the club seeing as it was and is currently still temporarily closed. We understand the matter is time sensitive and have made sure the member is canceled without any fees to cancel or any further pending charges upon reopening.
While I am satisfied with the resolution, I want to be clear that Planet Fitness NEVER tried to contact me until after I filed a complaint with the Revdex.com. I want to be clear that their statement regarding contacting me is untrue. I appreciate the Revdex.com being able to resolve the dispute for me.
Planet fitness fails to reach out by email or phone to remind about annual service charges. After being closed due to the pandemic, they re-opened and charged me for another year without reaching out to ask if I wanted it and refused to refund my $39 annual fee. I find it frustrating that your tactics to get people to sign up are aggressive but you lack communication when it comes to billing and payments. It shouldn't be this difficult to get a refund for something I can't use.
My bank account still got charged $70.10 after I canceled my membership.
I recently canceled my membership on 2/27/2020 at the ***, NC location and received documentation showing that it has been canceled. The manager *** stayed that no more charges and no more money will be taken out of my bank account. I check my bank account this morning and a charge of $70.10 was taken out. I called my bank to start the dispute process which will be done. I called planet fitness explaining the situation and have been trying all day to get this resolved and keep getting the run around about when the manager is actually going to get back to me and still have not gotten anything resolved.
I want the $70.10 to be refunded to my bank account in the next 72 hours.
When Ms. came into the *** facility to cancel she had owed us a balance of $70.10. When the manager cancelled her membership she did not charge her the amount of $70.10. Our billing system automatically resubmits any balances owed on every Friday. The day after she cancelled was a Friday, which is why she was billed that balance. Due to the miscommunication of this we do plan on issuing the refund of $70.10 to ***. After reaching out to our billing system they could not show a payment made for this amount. We are currently trying to reach out to Ms. to bring in a bank statement that we can turn in to conduct the refund.
I moved to Madrid Spain in August 2019 and went in and signed a cancelation form before leaving. They lost the form and have been charging me since.
I was a member at the planet fitness in ***, NC and went in to cancel my membership at the end of July before moving to Madrid Spain. I went and signed a cancelation form, they never gave me a copy of any form including by email. Since then I have been charged $171 and when I reached out they said they would not refund me since I don't have proof. I find it unacceptable that they do not fix their mistake considering they are the ones that lost the cancelation form and never notified me but decided to keep charging me. Since I am in Europe it has been very hard and they have been not helpful at all. I have proof that I live in Spain and they said they could see that I have not been to planet fitness since the beginning of August yet they still refuse to be helpful.
I would like a refund of $171.36, which is everything I have been charged since August 2019 until now. And I would clearly like my membership to be canceled, as it should have been 6 months ago.
I asked for a summer membership and that's what I was told I was signing up for. I'm returning to college, so didn't want a longer term than that.

Apparently the contract that I signed was for a full year versus the summer as I had requested. I'm at fault for not having read the contract in more detail, but I also think it's bad business practice to sign someone up for something they specifically said they didn't want, and it should've been made very clear to me that I was signing something different. Hence, I'd like to be released from my contract to hold to my original request. Thank you

Mr. signed up for our Black Card membership which always has a 12 month program but comes with all our amenities like tanning and hydro massage which he was using. But has since transferred his membership out of *** and is no longer an active member at that location and would need to reach out to his home club on cancellation procedures.
stopped me to let me know I used my tenth visit and while this was not my current location for membership, I need to go online and transfer.
While working out, I downloaded PF app on my smartphone that would not let me transfer membership. While leaving, I told *** and she said, not the app, you use ***. So, tried in front of her and it didn't work so she said I needed to cancel with old location or request by certified mail. I was disgruntled and she gave me business card of her supervisor. When I called that number, *** answered and said supervisor is not in yet. I am a black card member and thought I could go to any PF, nationwide. Been a member since 2014.
I would like an explanation for requiring customers to conduct self service while a clerk is there. Also, upon cancellation, my membership is still paid until May 12th, but because of 10 visit limit, I cannot use *** location.
Issue has been resolved and satisfied by the company. Please close as resolved.
Deceitful advertising by Corporate.
Last year I joined Planet Fitness in ***. I have dual residence. One summer and one winter residence. One of their corporate selling/advertising services indicates you can visit any PF in the work by obtaining their black card for an additional fee. Because I have dual residence I wanted to use their gyms during my stay in either state (MI or NC). On January 23, 2019 I was informed by the NC location that I was limited to 10 visits per month as a guest. I was shocked. No where on the corporate site, which I research prior to joining, does it indicate there are limitation. It specifically states you can visit any PF location in the world. Which you can, however there are limitations. I've complained to their corporate office via the standard 'contact us' button on the website. I received a standard reply: 'They are all independently owned, please see the local store for questions'. No other recommendations. PF corporate needs to put a disclaimer on their site indicating possible limitation when going to your non-base location. Very dissatisfied with this unpublished policy.
Change their advertising to reflect possible number of visit limits when going to or visiting another location other than the one you joined.
This person is a member a Michigan location and they would have the details on the membership stating Black Card members have access up to 10x per month to locations that are not their home club. The member may transfer their membership after 90 days to any location nationwide free of charge at Planetfitness.com.

If in fact the blackcard membership has limitations then it should be stated in their advertising which is what my complaint is about. There is no limitations stated anywhere in there advertising (on the website or on TV) and I was not informed of this limitation upon joining. I specifically bought the blackcard membership to allow me to go to their gym location while traveling.
I did verify with my membership home location that their is a limitation outside the franchise area. However, as stated above, I was not informed of this limitation when joining. Why would I think to ask because the website and advertising implies you can go to any location without limitations.
My complaint is that it is NOT stated anywhere in the advertising that there is a limitation outside the franchise area for blackcard members. The response does not address the issue. There needs to be a qualifier indicating/stating the limitation in their advertising. That is the basis of my complaint.
Joined a local club. I was told I had paid all fees and my bill was $10/month plus an annual fee starting next year. Was lied to about fees.
I joined a local planet fitness in***, NC in July. I was told at that time that I would pay a one time initiation and then my bill would be $10/month for 12 months. After that, I would be charged an annual fee along with the $10/month. I saw on the website I have a $39 payment coming up on September 1, and was told that was the annual fee - which is in addition to the fees I just paid. I asked to have the fee waived this year as this was not the arrangement I was promised. The representative refused. I asked for a supervisor (***) who also refused. I was told that there was nothing I could do and that if I wanted to cancel that would be an additional fee. I am happy paying the fees I agreed to, which is $10 a month until next year when I would pay the annual fee in addition to $10/month.
Either waive the $39 fee for 2018 which I was not told about, or allow me to cancel without penalty.
The situation with *** has been resolved, he is regularly coming into the club and is a happy member. Please let us know if there is anything you need from us to resolve this matter on Revdex.com's end. Thank you!!
This response is not true at all. I am NOT a happy Planet Fitness member. I am still coming into the club because I was told I could not cancel without paying more fees. All I wanted/continue to want is to pay for what I had agreed to - and not the extra "annual fee" which I was charged this year. I continue to request a refund of the $39 annual fee for this year, as I was lied to and was not told I was going to pay it. The matter is not resolved.
I went over a year ago and filled out cancel form, My wife and I had cancelled our memberships, still charging us fees for the year and per month
My wife and I went and cancelled our membership over a year ago, might even be 2 years now, I have emailed numerous times about it since then, they keep charging yearly fees and monthly fees to both of us, 20.00 per month, 12 months per year, 440.00 for a year. I told them last time if they kept charging me they would be doing so fraudulently, they continue to charge us. I want it to stop and I want my money back from a year ago, they had no right taking it from my bank account. They can look up my account, I haven't been there in years but they refuse to stop charging me. THIS NEEDS TO STOP IMMEDIATELY.
No further charging of our bank account, money returned from the past 12 months which was charged even after form was filled out and they were told numerous times not to charge us anymore. They still continue as of this week to charge my bank account every month.
This complaint has been satisfied. Both parties came to an agreement and the member is happy.
Matter was worked out. New manager apparently and satisfied with her quick response and resolution.
My truck was stolen because the front desk employee let 3 males walk into the facility with wrong id tags and without identification.
On Sept 26 2017 I walked into the gym to try and lose some weight. I have been a paying customer for over 3 years. When I signed the contract to join the gym they tell me that everyone is properly scanned with their planet fitness card and if not they must show proper identification to enter the gym. On this day the employee scanned one mans card and it showed up as a ladys picture. The employee then let all 3 men enter the facility without asking for the proper ID. The men stole my truck along with another girls car. My insurance covered my truck but this is my work truck and I lost alot of money on tools and supplies. Also I had to rekey my house, My garage, my PO box, cancel 6 customers checks, Loss of work for 4 days. And the list keeps going on. I still have to freeze my credit. The buisness offered me $250 dollars and a free membership, I declined that because I didnt feel safe in that gym.
He then said it was not his problem.
I posted a review on yelp to let all members and citizens to know that they are not scanning cards and to be safe and protect yourself. He then angrily called me and told he would countersue me in court for his lawyers fees and that I shouldnt have had expensive things inside and on my truck. He said this has happened and will continue to happen which I find scary because planet fitness could have prevented this. Scan people correctly and dont offer a key holder for your guests if your not gonna secure it, especially when you know it has happened before. That is total negligence. The owner also said the $9 hour employee of his was trying to be nice to these guys and thats why she let them just walk right in. he then told me he would offer $500 in home depot gift cards. Kind of upsetting to hear when his employee couldnt have prevented the situation. This has caused me some emotional damage as well over $2000 worth of loss things and refixing my house.
There is a terrible lack of training for this to happen because its the front desk persons main job. The owner shouldnt be blaming his employees he should be paying for his mistake.
I walked into his facility over a week ago to settle for the $500 because emotionally I am totally spent. I have yet to hear from him.
I do not want to drag him and his partner or myself thru the court over this.
I would like to ask for $750 for their mistake. That will at least cover my fixing the house and some cleaning supplies. I mean $750 is probably the fees I have paid him over my time at the gym.
I would like $750 dollars but if the $500 he offered on the phone is all he is willing to give I guess I can settle with that.
Mr *** placed his keys on a public key rack inside the facility. We have a sign posted directly next to the rack which states to all member "PF is not responsible for lost or stolen belongings". We have cooperated with authorities which led to the recovery of Mr ***s vehicle and arrest of the thieves. Mr *** is choosing to pursue legal action with our business and not use his own insurance or file a personal grievance with the arrested thief. We are very sorry Mr *** had his vehicle stolen and have been as helpful as we can be throughout this entire process.
My complaint was not resolved. The owner offered me $500 per our phone conversation because his employee did not follow policies and procedures. I am writing to him to collect that money. I am willing to sign something saying I will not take him to court, if he pays. I just want to be treated fairly as a customer and as a person. Its one thing for a business to not follow policies and procedures but then to offer them something for their pain and suffering and then refuse to give it to them makes it even worse. You can have a sign up anywhere but if you don't follow what you say you will do as a business I see that as a problem. I hung my keys on their key rack in the facility on the assumption that they informed me that they properly check people into the gym. Also he says that the suspect was arrested but that was not the case, he is still out there with all my information. Please do the right thing sir and contact me about the $500 you have told me on the phone so I can at least buy some supplies to replace the ones that were stolen from me. I want to drop this situation as soon as possible but I need you to cooperate with me and be a man of your word. Gift cards are fine if that's what you are offering, just please do what you said you would do for me. I mentioned this going to court because this was a life altering episode what happened at your gym because of your employees' actions and I needed time to get through this event and get back on my feet. Its not just an insurance claim and everything is better. This is far more than just money involved in this event.
My husband and I are having some problems with PF overdrafting our account several times in 2 weeks.
My name is ***. My husband (***) and I are having some problems with Planet Fitness overdrafting our account several times in 2 weeks. The first time was to pay our monthly bill and then they decided to try to take the same amount two more times that week. I have spoke with the manager at the gym near me and she was very rude about the situation and then at the end proceeded to tell us she could not help us it was on the bank to. The bank told me they it was planet fitness so they would have to refund me to go to higher level bc they have seen this problem to many times before. I am so tired of going back and forth I just need my $22 refund and my $39 refund to get me out of the negatives and then I am going to cancel my membership again since she would not do it when we asked. She said we would have to settle this first. I make sure our bills get paid. I only put enough in his account to pay the bills for the week and when they tried to take the payment 2+ times it overdrafted bc it was not supposed to be taken out.
Refund of both overdraft payments that should not have been taken twice.
We have talked to this member and explained we have not charged this member for the dues they are requesting to be refunded. We have asked for statements from her bank showing the 17th draft and the member will not provide them. We have a statement from the members bank showing drafts not able to be processed due to "insufficient funds". We will be happy to refund this member any dues PF collected incorrectly when the member provides that information.
